Ummmm... Is Gumble required to call Ryan classy and gracious, even after those comments?

man Bo Ryan is my favorite coach but he's acting like a poor sport.

its certainly understandable given the emotion, i just would expect more from him.

Seems like nothing he said after the game tonight is going to help his image feelings for Wisconsin around sports.

You can go for stuff like this during the regular season on a semi-meaningless game, but when you start blaming the refs and then complaining/boasting about how you don't do "rent-a-player"... it's just bad all around. He should be talking about how amazing it was to coach some of his guys for the last four years and how despite the loss they'll be able to look back on a successful run for the school and some big games/moments (edit - apparently he did, I missed it, but still). You can't, as a collegiate coach, just start complaining after the national championship game like that. You didn't see Calipari or Izzo going to that after the Final Four games and Ryan should be ashamed that he let his emotions get the better of him during interviews and press conferences.

that was an awesome game by 2 really good teams.

Duke made them look bad and i didn't think that was possible.

I don't like Duke at all... and I think you're dead on. Winslow and Okafor are awesome. Plus I have to give a shoutout to my favorite freshman this year... Grayson Allen. Duke is also bringing in my favorite incoming freshman for next season, Luke Kennard.

Hated it... complaining about physical play... I can't believe that Wisky fans give a shit either, considering the "NFC North, Big Ten Football" image of the state. Nothing says hardcore manliness like bitching about getting bumped.

He really used the term, "rent a player"? Ouch, not a good look.

Anyone follow college hoops recruiting enough to know if Bo Ryan really doesn't recruit those types of players or if he does and just can't land them?

The only one that I ever recall for Wisconsin was a bust and didn't actually end up being a 1 and done. In fact, I think he might have transferred from the program.

i heard him say it but wasn't completely paying attention. i don't think he was referring to one and dones tho. i thought he was referencing 5th year transfer guys. i might have missed it completely but i think he was answering a question about how it meant to have those guys for 4 years and he said it means the world to him and thats how he does things, he builds relationships and doesn't believe in rent-a-player type guys.

Wisconsin gets good recruits, relatively speaking, so its not like they are recruiting bums or anything. They missed Vander Blue to Marquette about 6 years ago, he was a monster recruit and they just missed out on Diamond Stone the day before the Kentucky game to Maryland. he was supposedly the biggest prospect in years from Wisconsin. Brian Butch was a high school all american... Dekker, Hayes and Koening were all big time recruits on the current team. so he definitely recruits and goes after blue chip guys.

One of the things that kind of restricts Wisconsin when it comes to recruiting is their academics. It's a very good academic school and a lot of people aren't really aware of that because of the Wisconsin "beer drinking, brat eating, cheesehead, Madison is a party town" stereotype. That's the primary reason that Gary Andersen bolted to go to Oregon State and one of the primary factors in Bret Bielema leaving for Arkansas. In recent years they've only landed the Wisconsin Mr. Basketball three times; the other guys couldn't qualify. In all likelihood, Stone wouldn't have qualified to get into the school without significant help and that's something the Wisconsin administration won't budge on.

Wisconsin's team gets away w more moving screens/hip checks than any team I've ever seen. The referees didn't call any of them in either game. Ryan has no room to complain about anything w the officials, at all. And that's coming from someone who badly wanted them to beat Dook

LAKE ZURICH, Ill., April 7 (UPI) -- Duke's win over Wisconsin in the NCAA Tournament Championship Game propelled an Illinois sixth grader into the top spot of ESPN's Bracket Challenge.
The 68-63 finish Monday night propelled the bracket filled out by Sam Holtz, 12, of Lake Zurich, into the top spot of the ESPN contest, beating out 11.57 million other submitted brackets.

"Just rushed right through it. I think it was all skill, some people say it was luck, but I think I studied enough," Holtz told WLS-TV.

The contest's website says the entry with the most points will be eligible for a $20,000 Best Buy gift card and a trip to the 2015 Maui Jim Maui Invitational. Holtz is tied for first in the challenge, and ESPN said a raffle will choose the contest winner from the top entries.

However, the contest's rules state participants must be at least 18 years old, and Holtz falls 6 years short of the marker.

Holtz said his father helped him enter the contest and allowed him to use his email address. It was unclear Tuesday whether Holtz would be eligible to claim a prize through his father.

Duke is pretty much in the same boat.

Not at all. Duke's administration makes quite a few exceptions and pulls strings to get guys in.

That would be like saying that USC doesn't pull any strings to get footba(ll) players in because the basketball team doesn't.
