Re: Golfers
I had a black 56 (not Vokey), before my most recent switch back to chrome... it was dull and fade quite a bit, within 1 year. After 2yrs, the scratches and stuff made it look very worn.

Re: Golfers
How difficult is it to change grips on clubs? I've wanted to change the grips on my irons for 2 years now, but don't want to pay for anyone to do it for me. Is this something that my dumb ass can accomplish?

Re: Golfers
Can you? Yes.
Should you? Debatable.
If you're fairly handy and you can live with potentially having a slight imperfection (1-2 clubs just off-center), then give it a shot. Once you do 1-2, the rest will be really fast.
With that said, I think most places only charge about $2-$3 per club and they can turn them around in the same day. While the kit to do it is usually around $15.

That's what I thought. I'm going chrome. Ofcourse, with about 900 inches of snow up here north of Boston, I probably won't be able to golf until July.....ReignOnU wrote:I had a black 56 (not Vokey), before my most recent switch back to chrome... it was dull and fade quite a bit, within 1 year. Thanks for the info. I'm assuming a pro shop at a golf course or driving range is probably the best to get that done?ReignOnU wrote:Can you? Yes.

Re: Golfers
You'll get a better selection of grips at a place like Golfsmith, Golf Galaxy, etc. Not sure if you have those around you but some big golf store equivalent would be just as good.Whittness10 wrote:Thanks for the info. There's a Golf Galaxy in Columbus that I can go to. I'll look into it. Thanks for the help.Downing11 wrote:You'll get a better selection of grips at a place like Golfsmith, Golf Galaxy, etc. Not sure if you have those around you but some big golf store equivalent would be just as good.Whittness10 wrote:Thanks for the info. Re: Golfers
Yeah, Golfsmith or Golf Galaxy are the best bets. I'd avoid Dick's Sporting Goods if possible. They fired most, if not all, of their PGA guys in the last year or so. Not saying that some might know their stuff, but I wouldn't risk it if you have other options now. The superstores are going to be a better bet for fast service. The pro shops will likely do a great job (same as the superstores), but they'll do it on "their schedule."

Pretty much. Dicks and Golfsmith will do it for you, but you're more likely to get a deal at a pro shop.Whittness10 wrote:Thanks for the info. I'm assuming a pro shop at a golf course or driving range is probably the best to get that done?ReignOnU wrote:Can you? Yes.

If you don't have access to a vice then don't bother doing it yourself

Re: Golfers
I'm not sure if there is one around Polaris, but I can get to Polaris in 40 min now that 71 is 3 lanes the whole way. I can make it to Easton in an hour flat, maybe less, but I know there is a Golf Galaxy there, right across the parking lot from the new Melt they just opened up. Sounds like a good excuse to go get a monstrous sandwich and my grips changed.

Ordered my wedges today: http://www.amazon.com/Titleist-Vokey-SM ... B00IF3QE1S
Got the 52/8 F grind, 56/10 S grind and 60/7 S grind. It sucks being a lefty sometimes, they had next to nothing available in store.
Picked these up on ebay for my new grips: http://www.amazon.com/13-Piece-Set-Mult ... B009J7KGX6
Can't wait for golf season up here in Snow Land, Massachusetts!!!

Why oversized? You got those old arthritic fingers going for ya?ReignOnU wrote:Switching to oversized grips this year... finally! I should have made the change 5yrs ago.

I'm considering a switch to MP 64's this year. Gotta save up a bit of my road per diem first though.

Re: Golfers
I'm actually not. We have guys there, but I would have had to go straight from LA to Miami to work that one and would have been gone for a month straight. If you're in a hospitality tent or area and you look at the TV, we're running the IPTv system on the TV (The leaderboard, with the broadcast inlay and stats). That's our "TIPS" system. They'll be all over. The menus at the concessions that are on TV screens are ours too.DRiccio21 wrote:i'll be at the tourney this weekend if you're coming down

Re: Golfers
went to the tourney today, first time going to see the big boys.
it was alot more fun than i expected. wasn't a huge crowd, got to see everyone.
my biggest takeaway is most of those dudes are way bigger and athletic looking than i expected. i certainly didn't expect a ton of Daly's but i also didn't expect them to be as filled out as they were either.
got pretty drunk, almost got hit by a few balls and added to my golf addiction i picked up recently. fun day

Been to one pga event, it was a blast and I was blown away too. Had to leave early for work but easily could have spent the entire day there
