Why God why!!! I bet Jsence cares about this breakdown.

If top 10 ish makes you elite, then yes, I would have to back off my stance, though I obviously don't agree that being the 10th best or even worst at a position in the NFL makes you elite.
That article also said that the Browns were the 7th closest team to the super bowl... sooo grain of salt.

Lynch was required to stay for 5 minutes, he stayed for 5 minutes.

He said he was here so he won't get fined before anyone asked him any questions and said he'd answer the same way every time. They asked him 29 questions, he said "I'm here so I won't get fined" 29 times

And this part helps cement it:
Good News: The Packers had two of the nine best wide receivers this season in Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb, according to PFF's grades. Cobb stood out for his production from the slot, where he compiled 1,067 yards. That's 200 more than the next-closest receiver (Philadelphia rookie Jordan Matthews), and the highest total by a wideout since Wes Welker and Victor Cruz topped 1,200 yards from the slot in 2011.

Average NFL team carries 6-8 WRs. We'll split difference at 7

32 * 7 = 224

Top 10 overall = 10/224 = 4.46%

So you're saying the top 5% of a position isn't elite? Ok. :?

If top 10 makes you elite, then Russell Wilson would then have to be elite as well.

Again, you're talking about top 10 QBs out of 96 in league (over half of whom may not play a snap all year), vs top 10 out of 200+, over half of which will see significant time.

Apples and oranges.

Cements what? This is the first time the 9th best person(really 10+ based on that link) at a position is an elite lock, never seen another example of that I can recall, right?

How far out are we pushing elite status, top 12...15? Honest question.

All I'm saying is I've never seen elite pushed out that far, this is the first time in all my years of talking sports I've seen that.

To shells point......My opinion is Elite is top 2-3 max and with a record of longevity to prove it. One year or two years does not make any one Elite.

So according to your logic, it's a set number. Which means if a state has five universities, the top three of them can be considered "elite" ; but of all the universities in the world, only three can be "elite", there is no adjustment proportional to the size of the group. So where you have 32 starting QB and basically 96 starting WR and many more who play, the same rigid number must be applied to both? That's illogical

Question still stands, give me 1 other example of guys who are considered fringe top 10 or not top 10 ever being considered elite?

How many times have we seen that before?

Maybe Nick and Jsence see it all the time, this is a first for me.

I'm not sure why you interpreted me as saying it's a set number, I never insinuated that, I only said it's not a really high number like 10, 12 or 15th best at your position. There's a difference between the 2, obviously.

how am I suppose to answer this stupid rhetorical question? At what point has a player in the top 10 been elite? no idea, I dont sit there ranking players after every week.

Elite - a select part of a group that is superior to the rest in terms of ability or qualities.

a SELECT GROUP. Doesnt say "has to be top 3", a select group, is superior to the rest.

Why cant 9 WRs out of like 90+ be superior?
