We didn't shoot much better, that's what has me stunned. We've now blocked 19% of all shots taken by the other team in three games.

The thing that made me the most excited....seeing how much the guys who weren't playing were cheering for those who were. They really appear to have bought into the platoon system from the outset.

Player buy in is always important, what makes me laugh is that it seems to be optional to buy in. Like players have a choice in the decision. The basketball coach and I were talking about this the other day and we both agreed that if John Wooden coached in this day and age he would not be as successful. Take his principles and his methods, kids would walk away.

Absolutely. I remember his story about Bill Walton and facial hair. His response to Walton was brilliant, and Walton shaved it off immediately. He did that today, Walton would laugh at him and transfer
When all-conference center Walton showed up for practice one day with a full beard and insisted that as much facial hair as he wanted was his right, Wooden didn’t argue. All John said was: “I admire people who have strong beliefs and stick by them. Bill, we’re all going to miss you!”

Twenty minutes later, Walton was so clean shaven that he could have made a commercial for any razor company in the world.

I agree with Dave. You set expectations, then people meet them

There were things Wooden did then, that you can't do today. I'm not saying that he wouldn't or couldn't be successful, I said he wouldn't be AS successful.

Would he even get the opportunity to be Wooden? He wouldn't have had the benefit of a calmer relationship between sports and money. Players didn't come and go as quickly as they did so the lessons could be instilled over time and the results were very apparent to see.

For all we know, Greg Schiano could be an unreal coach but he'll never get the chance to show it because his style wore out on today's athletes/fans/media. I mean, shit, I am STILL FUCKING CONFUSED as to what the hell the Giants are complaining about with that game vs Tampa.

Dave I had a half day today and bet your Huskies for a lil day action. The Huskies looked good down the stretch, guards are good.

didnt get to see it, i was working.

they are pretty talented. Boatright is a mini iverson, Purvis was a stud recruit at NC St before he transferred to UConn, Hamilton is one of our better recruits in a long time (he's Jordan Hamilton's bro). Then Sam Cassell son is a freshman and shown some real nice ability off the bench.

And we have Brimah still who is a monster inside defensively.

they are good, not great. Boatright could have an All American season for sure and with good guards, anything is possible down the stretch.

exciting thing is that Ollie is a stud and big prospects are warming up to him. UConn historically isn't a great recruiting school despite the success so it'd be nice to see a few big time classes.

That Purvis guy looked awesome. Good size for a guard too it looked like.

Justin Anderson shooting a sizzling 68% from 3 point land. 15-22 for the year. Be nice if he could keep that going all season.
