Destiny
Re: Destiny
Allegedly, the game cost $300 million to make. It's amazing just how much video games crush movies on cost and sales.
Re: Destiny
Biggest selling new IP ever. It will certainly be a billion dollar franchise. It's the perfect game coming out at the perfect time. There is zero competition right now.

Re: Destiny
This game goes supremely hard.
Re: Destiny
The second time you go to the Temple of Crota on the Moon and you have to get rid of the huge hive (looks like a gigantic larvae hanging from the ceiling), it can get real difficult. At first you have to fight three witches. Just stay back and snipe the shit out of them. Then, when the waves of monsters comes for you, don't go down the stairs. Just stay at the top, they won't come up to get you; instead just hiding around the corner. When you are good and ready, just run down the stairs far enough so one sees you and it will come attack you ... while everyone waits.
Eventually, a wave will spawn behind you. This could be trouble. Nope, just run into the room, do a lap, and run back up the stairs. Repeat.
The AI in the game is horrendously stupid.

Re: Destiny
got some guy on the opposite team a triple kill on the C flag last night on the moon because I was busting out some dance moves and BFiVL and Sixpack were quite mesmerized. next thing. we're all dead.

Re: Destiny
^ Always throw smoke on the flag.
Re: Destiny
I was on and playing router dropped connection... I reset and my roommate can get on WiFi upstairs but it says I can't connect to the servers on my ps4 wired. I am on psn but I can't connect to the game, any suggestions? My wired ps4 is on a dmzd ip. Very frustrated.

I have been booted twice. Other than that, this has been a pretty flawless experience. Played one match in the Crucible. Everyone seemed to have super weapons except me and a few others. Wish it was more like Halo and you played against similarly leveled/talented people.

Re: Destiny
It just comes down to how much time you spend on it. I hopped on with a group that were all level 20 or more, me as the level 6 basically stood no chance in hell. Once people get the Crucible armor and shit that are all +200 defense and offense it gets crazy. Not sure I like the multiplayer in that respect, but the game is damn good.

Re: Destiny
Level is only taken into account during Iron Banner, otherwise everyone is on the same playing field. A level 5 can easily kill a level 20.

I don't follow.trendon wrote:Allegedly, the game cost $300 million to make. It's amazing just how much video games crush movies on cost and sales.
Destiny (a "hit" game):
$300 million budget (is this production and marketing?)
$1,000 million in sales
Someone still incurs costs for server maintenance and gameplay patches/bug fixes (assuming the manufacturer).
Avengers (a "hit" movie):
$320 million budget (estimated that $100 million was marketing, movie budget widely reporter/estimated at $220 million)
$1,500 million in ticket sales
$215 million in blu-ray/dvd sales as of summer 2013
Assuming the manufacturing costs for the games and the blu-rays wash out, how is Destiny crushing a hit movie like Avengers? (I'm assuming by "crush" you mean it has a better cost to sales ratio, which it clearly doesn't.)

I would assume the profits are not cut nearly as much for destiny as they are for a movie like avengers.dakshdar wrote:I don't follow.trendon wrote:Allegedly, the game cost $300 million to make. It's amazing just how much video games crush movies on cost and sales.

Easily? Yeah, one off.BIGmike wrote:Level is only taken into account during Iron Banner, otherwise everyone is on the same playing field. A level 5 can easily kill a level 20.
Not over the course of a match, though. That said, I actually love the non-parity.
