Re: College Hoops Thread - 2014
they've been a bad team all season
its the nature of constructing teams the way Calipari does. its a very hard thing to do and he's not a good enough game coach to handle it when his talent doesn't overwhelm the opponents.
Kentucky needs a superstar pg to win the way they play. they don't have that.

It's not even so much that, as it is pretty much all these guys lack leadership.
When they're called for a foul, both Harrisons get this stupid look on their face and throw their hands up. None of the other guys in the past good teams (Wall, MKG, Davis, etc) did that.
The biggest thing w this team is that they let their offense affect their defense. If they're hitting shots, they play hard on defense. If they don't, they mope back and are lazy. You can't win like that. MKG and Davis were true leaders, and if they weren't scoring, they were making damn sure they did other things even better to help the team win.
At this point, I hope that the Harrisons leave (they shouldn't but I hope they do) so that when the stud PG comes in next season and takes the job away, it doesn't cause a rift between the twins. Poythress, Young, Johnson, WCS, Lee, and a few others should return next year, with the kids we have coming in we should have a strong core. Cal doesn't recruit all these guys to be one/done, Teague wasn't supposed to go after one year, neither was Goodwin, etc.
Just makes me appreciate that 2012-13 team even more.

So are you calling that they go 40-0 next year now as well ?
Cause it clearly didn't happen this year like you stated before the season started.

When is everyone gonna realize Jason is the biggest fan boy in the country. I wish I had saved some of his AIM messages he used to send me when UK was playing a hoops game a few years ago. Sometimes twenty replies acting like a psychopath and it was just the first half of a game.

FWIW, Lebron/Duncan/Kobe are 3 of the biggest offenders of this in the NBA. They've won 11 titles.jsence2 wrote:When they're called for a foul, both Harrisons get this stupid look on their face and throw their hands up. None of the other guys in the past good teams (Wall, MKG, Davis, etc) did that.
I don't think that has anything to do with anything, just my take. Granted I haven't seen 1 minute of UK hoops this year LOL. So it may be other things that I certainly wouldn't argue since I don't know, but I have a hard time believing that tells you anything whatsoever.

But the three you mentioned also don't make stupid decisions, and they're leaders and play very well on defense. They don't get a foul called on them and then sulk for five minutes. That's the difference. Body language says a lot. Those three may whine about a foul, but then they go back to playing hard. That's why they win.

You were totally wrong either way. You thought they could go undefeated and they have 9 losses. Not even close. By your standards, just about any team could go undefeated.jsence2 wrote:I_S33M_THAB33T_U wrote:jsence2 wrote:

Yes I was totally wrong and I admit it. This team has a ton of talent, but no desire or work ethic. Total waste of talent. And sadly, most of them will go pro because their buddy or their AAU coach keeps telling them how great they are, and they'll be in the D-League within a year or two, if they even get signed/drafted at all.
Unless I see a massive change w the SEC tournament, I'll have them going out in the first round in my brackets. I've never done that before. Truth be told, I'm not sure they deserve to be IN the tournament at this point.
