Masters 2014, Augusta, GA
Masters 2014, Augusta, GA
I just got an email today that I won the ticket lottery for the Tuesday, April 8, 2014 practice round at the Masters next year. I am beyond ecstatic. I know Columbia, SC is closer to Augusta than Atlanta, but nonstop flights from Boston to Columbia don't seem to exist, so flying into Atlanta and driving the 2 hours to Augusta is probably what is going to happen. To anyone with knowledge of the area, am I better off staying in Atlanta and driving the 2 hours early on the 8th, or is there anywhere to stay in the Augusta area the night of the 7th and 8th?
Any help is much appreciated.

And I have to imagine that the hotels in/near Augusta, if not already booked up, will be a bit pricey.
Probably be cheaper to stay in Atl and drive the 2 hours.

there are hotels along the way as well. dont settle for the ATL stay. You might get lucky and snag a room in Augusta if you book now.

Been there personally. I sold them our software, awesome place but even as a vendor i wasnt able to go to the clubhouse or to any of the holes. I was at the practice greens next to all the Mainteance equipment. But i can still say I stepped foot @ Augusta National 3 times in my life.

check pricing, they go from $60 a night to $250 during Master's week. Check places like Madison, which is half way off I 20. Thomson is 30 min from Augusta.

Thanks for the tip. NCAA hoops championship game is the night of the 7th, so we'll have to find a nice bar to watch the game at. Do you know of any place good in Madison or Thomson?ChampDizzle wrote:check pricing, they go from $60 a night to $250 during Master's week. Check places like Madison, which is half way off I 20. not really, I know Conyers is decent. Unfortunately, Washington rd, where the Masters is at has plenty including Hooters.Downing11 wrote:Thanks for the tip. Ended up calling an audible and are flying through Charlotte now. Getting in Sunday morning, driving to Pinehurst and playing #1 on Sunday afternoon, #5 Monday morning, then driving to Columbia, SC for our hotel / NCAA championship game viewing that night. Heading to Augusta and back on Tuesday, leaving Wedneday morning back to Boston. A good amount of driving involved, but not more than 2.5 hours any given day. And now having the chance to play Pinehurst will be great. Playing Pinehurst #2 would have been insane seeing that the US Open is there next year, but it isn't cheap. For $330 there, we got a mini-suite, 2 rounds of golf and a breakfast. To play #2 you have get into a different package and the price would have more than doubled.
Can anyone recommend a good spot in/near Columbia to watch the game?

We've been to Pinehurst the last 3yrs for our golf trip and I've yet to play #2. We can never get our whole crew to commit to the cost and requirements. I've got some cool pictures with the Payne Stewart statues and other stuff. (A few guys went down about a month before us this year and did get to play it.) We spent about 2hrs this year sitting on the porch, on #2 18, watching people try to land that green. Absolutely hilarious. It was a cool way to relax after playing 36 that day. Enjoy it man!

Yeah, can't wait. What courses have you guys played? We got to choose from 1, 3 and 5 and 3 looked to be very short, almost like an executive course so we went with the other 2. #1 I think is only 6,100 from the tips, but that is fine with me and also cool since that was the first course made there I believe.

Got my Masters tix in the mail today. Figured I'd check out ebay for the hell of it. I paid $200 total for the 4 tickets.

I'm going with my best friend, my Dad and Dad's buddy, I better not have to buy a drink the whole time I'm down there.
Just kidding of course, this is a trip of a lifetime. If I get these tix again next year, they are getting sold!!!!
