25 over at Valhalla would be fine by me. I'm not a great golfer by any stretch.

I've said it many times, but if you enjoy golf and are ever in NC, Tobacco Road is a must play. It's an experience unlike anything you've seen on the PGA tour and even the images online do not do it justice.

These are the books that you'll want to buy for the 1st time you play it... must have to get around the course

I have never heard someone say "25 over" + handicap. Maybe I dont play enough golf. Group I play with just says the total score. I need to get a handicap then I can tell everyone I played a ton better. If someone says "what you shoot" I can say I am a scratch golfer if I shoot my handicap right.

No, scratch golfer means the person is good enough that their handicap is zero, meaning they shoot par when they play.

Someone like jsence with an 18 handicap is known as a bogey golfer, cause he is 1 over on every hole on average.

Here is an app I recommend for any avid golfer: Golflogix. You can get distances to the center of the green, to the pin, count putts, count hit fairways and a bunch of other stuff. It will even figure out your handicap. It is a very handy tool. I always hate looking for sprinkler heads and trying to figure out distances when I'm at a new course.

golflogix is a nice app, really kills the battery on my phone though, but is very nice.

Yeah the phone needs to be charged the night before. It will knock my battery down to around 35% after 18 holes. Worth it to me though.

I gave up on golf GPS apps. For the most part I found them too cumbersome and more of a hassle during the round, especially when its sunny and I can barely see the screen anyway. I walk as it is, between the fairway markers and pacing I get by, Im not good enough (scratch golfer...with an 18 handicap!) for it to make too much of a difference

SwingbySwing is definitely a great app. Ditch your scorecard and use it... it's actually really fast and easy.

I prefer to use SwingbySwing when I'm walking. I find it more convenient, as I can take out my phone while I walk up the course and add in my information. If you don't want to track it by shot, you can just wait until you finish the hole and put in your strokes (other stats if you care). The convenience is that you can take it out and you have the GPS portion of it working as well. Full round of 18 only uses about 1/2 of my batter on an S4 Active.

When I'm in the cart (rarely), I still prefer the card, usually because it's a more 'social' environment.

Lol...where exactly do you think you drive and how would you turn around? You walk down that path and park your cart before you reach the green.

So ive been invited to play in a pretty big charity tournament on Monday here in Orlando.

I am more interested in the free drinks and food throughout the event from Sunday-Monday.Also you get a free Tommy Bahama shirt for participating that I will probably sell on Ebay

Its best ball so my lousy play wont matter but I dont want to absolutely embarrass myself out there on a beautiful course and with some big wigs we are playing with. May utilize all those all you can drink throughout the round and it will enhance my play.

Its a Niklaus course and I havent golfed in maybe 2 years?

This should be interesting.

Here too.

I almost declined out of embarrassing my team and friend but it was fully paid, its a really nice event with great features and awesome free food and drinks.

Not to mention a day off with this awesome weather and giving it a whirl.

May hit the range. I am hit or miss driving, not too bad with the irons, terrible at chipping, horrid at putting.

Dont think Ive played best ball but it really doesnt matter unless I hit a good iron within 5 feet or so on a par 3, right?

I basically go out there and shank the place up. My friend is ok but he shanks a lot too.

Supposedly there is a scratch golfer on our team and we have a legitimate shot at winning this thing.

Not due to my assistance of course.
