If youre generally healthy (no bleeding disorders, anemia, chronic diseases like hepatitis) you likely can sell your plasma. Drink tons of water, and eat right. Thats the suggestion anyway, although most people you see there donating arent exactly in the best physical condition (maybe its just the ghetto of Lansing, who knows).

I did it for three years in undergrad/med school, until I started working in the hospital and didnt have the time. I went when they opened in the mornings after my workout at 7am, and was able to get in and out in about an hour and a half. As the day went on, the line gets ridiculous and can take over 3 hrs to get through the whole thing. The actual donating takes about 45-50 minutes.

I was/am broke, and instead of finding a part-time job and trying to work around my schedule, I just did that twice a week (the maximum). Paid something like $25 the first time, $35 the second for about $60 a week. Not much, but enough to pay all my bills and groceries (had a roommate at the time)

What part of surgery bothers you? You'd be amazed how quickly you can get desensitized to most of the shit. Smells tend to stick though

Ill be making a residents salary for the next 4-5 years, which is easy enough to look up (differs for each hospital, Ill be at ~$40k). My wife is a graduating optometrist, which doesnt require a residency so she'll be the bread winner for a while.

Meanwhile, $4k/month loan payments start in August...yay!
