The dunk contest has sucked for the last couple years. This one could be interesting. The problem is that everyone has just about run out of ideas. I'm going with Terrence Ross as my pick with Gerald Green and Bledsoe as possible contenders.
James White is one of the greatest dunk contest guy of all time.

i think its over before it starts. he goes between the legs from behind the free throw line... he does it every contest (granted they are college, europe, etc) when he does that on the big stage people are going to go nuts. he's a youtube legend.

Wasn't he in it just a few years ago? And didn't he turn out to be pretty disappointing?

White should be pretty familiar to most of the guys that frequent the thread... started out as a Gator, ended up as a Bearcat. "The Flight" was always that dude that looked lazy on the court and I remember always thinking about how good he could really be if he actually seemed to give a damn.

If this were 2004-2006, I'd give it to White, no question. He's 30 now though and I haven't seen him play in a few years, so I'm not sure what he has left.

I'd go with Kenneth Faried. He's is one of the most explosive players currently in the game, I just don't know what kind of stuff he has in his arsenal.

2004? he was like a sophomore in college in 04. White's never been in it, as far as i remember.... he's done the D League, some Euro ones, college ones but not NBA.

i'm not sure if he's ever lost a dunk contest.

he does every dunk from the free throw line... including windmills, between the legs, etc.

again, he does the same thing everytime in every contest but its absurdly good.

he also takes off from BEHIND the line, unlike most guys.

Yeah, he's a youtube legend from way back. I'm probably thinking of the college dunk contest. He's one of those guys that could jump like crazy but never developed any skills beyond that.

Was just tossing out estimated years off of the top of my head. I usually relate stuff like that to when I was playing ball, because I ran into him quite a few times. He is about 30-31 now though, right?

Andrew Wiggins stat line tonight: 57 points (24-28 fg), 13 Boards, 4 blks, 2 stls. He dropped 57, other team finished with 59. #wow

SI called him the Canadian Jordan, so dumb lol. But hes gonna be a stud and its gonna be weird seeing a Canadian go #1 in next years draft

A couple of friends just saw him play at Flyin' to the Hoop, right up the road from my office. They said the only thing impressive about him was the pre-game warm up. They said he looked disinterested in the game, only played hard when the ball was in his hands or a play was designed for him, and overall, he seemed selfish and not like a good teammate. I REALLY wish I could have went to this even this year. The group that puts it together does an amazing job of bringing in elite talent. It's a huge series of basketball games that goes from Fri - Mon, on MLK weekend.

tell your friends they think too much.

if he puts ball in hoop = good.
if he doesn't put ball in hoop = bad

Ok, now you're just sounding like AJ in the recruiting thread yesterday. That's ridiculous

how so?

i don't care, at all, about a players personality if he's a great/efficient player.

great players are typically considered 'great teammates' because they win. in reality, guys like Jordan were probably the worst possible teammates. but the winning overcomes all. i'll take the great/efficient player always regardless of his personality.

I'll sacrifice up to 3.5% in FG% to not have a d-bag on my team.

not if the D-Bag was beating you, you wouldn't.

and obviously i get your point, but alot more goes into being a good player than FG%.

Who's talking about personality?

You don't think there would be an issue with a guy only playing hard when he has the ball or when a play is called for him?

Not playing any D, standing around when the ball isn't in your hands, as long as you're efficient when you do shoot the ball, that's cool?

Now granted, if we're talking about shooting 24 of 28, I do agree that the dude can do whatever he wants basically, and it's cool, but I know that's not exactly what we're talking about here lol.

Yeah, like not being a douche, so your teammates won't freeze you out of the offense.

And I'm not even talking about a dude who is or isn't a DBag.

I'm talking about a guy not trying unless the ball is in his hands.

That's an issue. Not saying he'd do that as I dont know who the kid is, but we are speaking in general terms.
