Re: 2012 College Football Thread
still a shit load of football to play still. oregon has to play stanford and at oregon state still, and i think texas might give kstate a game in last game of season. nd still has to play at usc and hey it might be a high scoring game ,but you never know what happens.
until a playoff happens, we can sit here and argue which makes for good board stuff, but it will all play out.

Re: 2012 College Football Thread
Exactly. No matter how good you say a team is a loss is a loss, and an undefeated team from a major conference deserves considerations over those who have lost a game. I could talk all day about how the Noles are better than some of the teams ranked ahead of them, but they lost to a team in NC State that no one would consider better than the Noles this season. While my boys are not in the same class as Bama, the effect on how I view Bama now if very much the same as when another top ranked team drops a game to a large underdog.shel311 wrote:I would absolutely take Bama on a neutral field betting straight up with even odds against any team in the nation this year without hesitating.beercop wrote: if you were hooked up to a lie detector and had to bet the house, the car, the kids, your stock options, your virtue – okay, so maybe just the kids – you’d absolutely take Alabama over Kansas State, Oregon or Notre Dame in a BCS championship with Nick Saban and his staff getting six weeks to prepare. And why wouldn’t you?
That being said, that IMO is not how you determine who is most deserving and who had the best season and should play for a title.

Re: 2012 College Football Thread
a sad day when the last post on a football Saturday was at 1pm....
Notre Dame just has to win next weekend and they should be a lock for the National Champ game. I'm hoping Baylor holds on. The big ten is well the big ten. Kent State maybe the 2nd best team in Ohio. Ohio State gets lucky and wins after a 2nd half that saw them punt the ball on every possession. LSU survives. Auburn and Alabama in the same week play cupcakes. Add Texas A/M to that list. I just heard "leg lift" as a penalty against Oregon....(thinking he meant to say leg whip). I still hate the WVU all yellow uniforms. Temples running back went off today impressive day. The state of Tenn bragging rights will go to Vandy for 12 months. Mount Union here in Ohio a division III powerhouse for years, beat Chris Newport 72-14 in the 1st round of the playoffs. Now theres a concept, a playoff. And last but not least, whenever I play a NDL game/Dynasty game I always tell Maddie (2yr old) "quick football game". So today I put the Buckeye game on and she looks at me and says "Dad quick football game"....

That was a HORRIBLE pass interference call against Stanford. You cannot make a call like that with a minute left in the game

Poor stanford.
Robbed against Notre Dame this season.
And that PI call may rob them of another possible victory.

If they lose, poor field goal kicking and turnovers are what will do them in.

Hard to avoid that when a conference has a conference championship game.GeorgesGoons wrote:If Stanford wins next week against UCLA they play again the week after that in the PAC12 championship game....LAME!
Hell of a night to cap off what started as a crappy CFB Saturday.

Re: 2012 College Football Thread
Man, these top 2 teams losing really, really makes that LSU lost to Bama hurt just that much more. Ugh.
We would quite possibly have the #2 spot in the BCS Standings.

And loud cheers abound in the south.
How far will KSU and Oregon fall? Below Florida? Gotta think they slide in right after UGA. If notre dame goes down, rankings could get fun. Computers rule the world now.

Computers should rule the world in these rankings, IMO.vicktim7 wrote:And loud cheers abound in the south.

I do think KSu and Oregon fall below Florida. Florida was #3 in the Computers before today, so they'll likely take #2, i would have to assume, since Bama and UGA also played cupcakes today.

Re: 2012 College Football Thread
Best case FOR ME....ND loses next week to USC pretty bad, UCLA beats Standford, Oregon plays UCLA in chipper, wins.....Bama goes to 1...Oregon to 2 from 4 cause ND lost and so does Georgia in the SEC chipper..and it's Oregon vs Bama what I have wanted from the beginning of the season....oh lordy.
Season 25 NCAA - New Mexico Lobos 5-7
Season 26 NCAA - Arizona Wildcats 11- 3 (Pac 12 Champions, Rose Bowl Champions)
Season 1 Madden - Seattle Seahawks 12-4 NFC Champoinship game (lost)
Season 27 NCAA - Texas Longhorns 9-4 (Alamo Bowl champs vs USC)
