My name is Knapp and I was recently fired from my head coaching position at the University of Wyoming. The Athletic Director told me that it was because of my 3-9 record (with two of those wins even coming from forfeited games). Other folks in the Wyoming Administration are telling me that it was more than the team's record.
I guess I wasn't up front enough with the local press. I was supposed to give a recap of each Cowboy game, from my perspective. I didn't accomplish this, each and every game. Also, part of my job description was to be the "Stats Guy" for the football program (money's tight up there in Laramie). I was to tally all player/team statistics. I was alittle lackadaisical in that department. And finally, there were a couple of coaches that felt that the defensive coordinator (that was me, by the way) used too much bump and run on defense and that it was taking my offensive coordinator (me) entirely too long to get the plays into my QB, resulting in an excessive amount of wasted play clock.
The funny thing is that I've been told that I can re-apply for my job back. But they're first going to make the position available to approximately 60 other candidates...and then if no one accepts the job (which is hard to imagine), I can give it another go, IF I WANT! Oh, by the way, this is all under the table information. My firing won't be officially announced until tomorrow, so let's keep this on the down low for now!
