Hauppauge or Elgato?

Post by The_Niddler »

I know some people in here use these.

I am going to buy one of them, just not sure which one.

The Elgato Game Capture HD is about the size of a deck of cards and has HDMI in and out and is $179 with Prime on Amazon.

Well Hauppauge now has the Hauppauge HD PVR 2 which supports HDMI in and out and is $159 with Prime on Amazon.
It is a little bigger and Sony only allows gameplay recording through a component connection at this time.

I am hoping that will change in the future, but may be nice to have component and HDMI options.

ElGato

Which one do you recommend?

Must be some good drugs nick. I have no idea what the hell that meant in relationship to what I posted.

They are video capture devices that some people are using to broadcast their video games, for those of you that do not know.

I know quite a few people using the elgato on both the ps3 and xbox and they really like it. Very simple to use. Seems to work really well with any game. I don't know much about the Hauppauge other than I haven't had anyone ask for one...they have been asking for the elgato.

Where do you work or what do you do that people have been asking for the elgato?

I work in technology sales for schools. Been selling them to a few school districts and a couple colleges. Also, have several friends that record BF3 and COD footage and put them on youtube and they ALL use the elgato now.
