DB/WR Seeing the ball
Re: DB/WR Seeing the ball
Ther is no swat button this year in game control settings however I think it still does work. This year if your defender is beat and someone throws the lead passes your beat nothing you can do if the guy has a couple steps. I think it's great because people just can't run man and blitz as their go to defense. They're going to have to pick and choose which times to do it.

Wasn't everyone talking about how great user control was when the game first dropped?
So, if it's NOT a situation where you're sitting with your safety and strafing, waiting for the ball...say it's a streak or corner route, and you switch to the DB, speed bursting a couple of yards behind the WR, what do you do? Do you still always switch and attempt to make the user pick and risk your guy not making a play and giving up a big gain, or do you just not switch and let the cpu do it?

Re: DB/WR Seeing the ball
Swat is still L1. On deep streaks and such you should never try to square up/strafe otherwise your toast. My problem comes on the touch passes/lobs. The WR will stop and square up, but when you try to do this on defense it's likes the game pushes your player away from the WR, almost like a force field is surrounding the WR.

Re: DB/WR Seeing the ball
Another possible problem popped up on me today in my OD game. In the last seconds I was on offense in a third and goal situation with about ten seconds to go. I ran a play and didn't score. The game went to one of those cut scene replays with the clock running. I tried to call timeout to set up a field goal but it wouldn't let me do it despite me pounding on the select button. I won the game anyway so it wasn't much of an issue but I'd hate to see this happen if someone was behind by three or less or tied in the same field position and situation. I didn't hit start and try to call timeout that way out of sheer habit so maybe that would have worked.

Re: DB/WR Seeing the ball
The only thing i have been able to do with any success is swat it down. Apparently you don't hve to see the ball to do thatshel311 wrote:BIGmike wrote:It still is good, just trying to square up to intercept a pass is damn near impossible.shel311 wrote:Matt90210 wrote:The user control took a huge hit this year. OH SNAP!

I agree with what most are saying though. I think the user controls are better/more realistic this year and apparently they have coded awareness into the user controlled player so that if you don't "see" the ball (if the awareness check doesn't hit) then you won't try for the pick. I still have to adjust to using swat since they locked the buttons (which I hate) so I can't reassign it from L1.
Overall, I think it's a good change. I think the defenders were able to cover too much ground in '12 and make superman like plays at times.

Doubt it. Kenny Stills, Jaz Reynolds, or Trey Franks. Pick your poison. Now that I know your troubles one of these three will be hot routed to a streak on every single play.BIGmike wrote:Don't get me wrong, I'm still taking OU down in the basement and dismembering them.Block M wrote:NCAA 13: The Fall of BigMizzle

Re: DB/WR Seeing the ball
Don't worry about defending my WR's on streaks guys. None of them run fast enough to get open and my QB, any of them, can't get the ball there anyway.

As a "run first" type of coach all these years, this infuriates me to no end.

I've used the swat button many times, it still works.

You think you're WRs are slow, I had a DB slip and fall, get up, and make the pick... and that was on a streak...LetsGoPeay wrote:Don't worry about defending my WR's on streaks guys. None of them run fast enough to get open and my QB, any of them, can't get the ball there anyway.
