Thats what the House just approved. And thats after how many years into this? We're still spending this much like its nothing. Everyone has gone crazy

and oh wait. Republicans hate spending. Only when its helping Americans.
Do you really believe we are not using any Air Force or Navy in Iraq? Have you heard of the Predator UAV? Have you ever heard of SEALS? Do you even have a clue what is going on in Afghanistan? I would love to know what you think that money is being spent on. I know where a lot of that money is going, I'll anxiously await your reply.

He didn't say we weren't using ours, he just said they don't have either one. Don't hol back. Enlighten us. Where is the money going? Not being an ass, I would really like to know.

would just like to get this on record...... I work for a defense contractor.
I read it the wrong way....my bad.

A lot of the money goes to building infrastructure around that country. A bunch of roads have been built as well as schools. It is the same thing we did in Iraq, Germany, Japan (albeit the last two were done after the war was over).

I never said it makes sense, but that is just the way it is. Congressmen and Senators, on both sides of the isle, approve this money to head over there. Mr. Obama could always veto it, but the problem with that is this money is probably buried in the verbage of the bill and it would end up costing the soldiers on the ground with new or advanced equipment to help fight the war. I wish Congress and Senate would get their acts together and stop putting shit in bills to get their agenda paid for. They should vote for each item and not a bill that contains 1000 different items, some that have nothing to do with what the original bill is even about. But that would be another debate I guess, even though it is a little in line with this one.

Agree 100%. That is one of the biggest problems I have with the congress. There was a bill not to long ago that was mainly money for 9/11 workers, but the dems stuck something in it they knew the repubs wouldn't ever vote for just to try and make them look like assholes, like they didn't want the 9/11 folks to get any help.

The moment Obama vetos it the socialist cries or him being "foreign" will ring. Again, we spend over 900 billion on defense. China, who is second only spends around 72 billion. So I'm standing by my original statement. Cut it in half and stop hyping "foreign threats". You cant forced people to change. Its like Egypt. We kill these old leaders and the fucking people elect the same kinda nut job and we get pissed they didnt put who we want in power. We WASTE TONS OF LIVES AND MONEY ON THIS BULLSHIT. STOP THE MADDNESS

You are given a freedom that soldiers now...in the past, and in the future have fought for...they fight for our freedom, IF it wasn't for our military and the people who DECIDE to enroll, we wouldn't have as strong as military, and in the past, we wouldn't be where we are today. Go live in some other countries that dont' have the rights and freedoms we have. Is it perfect? NOT at all, but I love the US...and did before 9/11....We live great lifes here, and it could always be ALOT worse.
 what a great addition to the league...

Tons of emotion in this thread, think that's making people not make logical sense

Guessing you didn't care to read, but my answer to how much we should be spending on our military was "I don't know". :)

idk how confidential it is but i found out today there's companies about to start producing machines that will scan for dirty bombs and chemical weapons in public places. you'll never even see it. it'll be the subway map or the big console showing where you are in the mall. No longer in development stages it's actually on to production now. Theyll be using some of our products in the machines so i should hear more about it throughout the process. Where the money came from I dont care but makes me feel better knowing thats going to be out there for sure. also though on the other hand makes you a little nervous about what else is coming down the pipe we will never know about.

Similar to that are things like this are just crazy to me. I can see the need given all the craziness but there's also that side of you that's like...wow. Should they know all that about me?
