Maybe he's not and Brees is making him look like a genius?

Who knows.

which team is looking for a QB with a solid oline? Zona's isnt anything better,
Miami OL is statistically ranked 30th in pass protection last year.

Jake Long is a monster. better qb who makes better/faster reads makes everyone around you better, including the line.
on the flipside, a guy like Ben Roethlisberger who holds the ball forever makes every lineman seem worse.

imo. but i don't know shit about football.

Agree with you on the logic Dave. Here's the stats on OL pass pro... http://footballoutsiders.com/stats/ol.

Long is ok...the rest of that line is trash.

MIami's QB wereLOLOLOLHenne and Moore

put Manning on that team and it changes how defenses are gonna play you. No way theyre sending the house so Manning can pick them apart. Gotta think of the lil things Reign

Could be wrong, but doesn't that link suggest they are 17th in pass protection? And it is somewhat based on sacks which I'm not a big fan of. Not sure how else to quantify it though.

football is too hard and too fluid to analyze stats, imo.

i'm pretty comfortable that with my 'eye test' saying that Peyton holding the ball for 2 seconds in the pocket with teams fearing a pass vs Chad Henne holding the ball for 5 seconds with teams blitzing the shit out of him is going to make a difference in the appearance of the offensive lines blocking ability.

Why is everyone assuming Manning can still play?

And don't always assume that when top QB's are audibling that they are only changing routes. Top QB's are so good at understanding defenses that they change blocking packages.

my genius idea from last night was that the cowboys should just straight up cut romo and sign manning, no clue about any of the financial and media backlash but romo blows and hes not any younger.

that one ESPN special when Gruden was talking to some draft prospect and he showed him video of Brees at the line blew my mind away.

some great pass rusher (i forget who, might have been Abraham) was overloaded on a side with no TE help and he looked like he would have a real good shot to get at the qb. Brees called an audible that told everyone to shift THE OTHER WAY actually making even less protection on the side of the good pass rusher. of course, he snaps ball, the pass rusher that was now completely unguarded was dropping back into pass coverage, the adjustment allowed them to pick up a nickleback blitzing and Brees hit a wide open WR like 30 yards down field.

my mind was blown when i saw that.

I'm sorry, but Romo is a very, very good quarterback.

Most underrated QB in the NFL. I don't think whoever is 2nd is even close to being as underrated as him.

Look at his numbers and tell me he sucks, or is even average. There is a bad culture - almost Raiders-like - in Dallas where they value the wrong people and I don't know if that is Romo's fault. People still hang that Seattle FG kick gaffe on him when he was basically a rookie.

underrated? i was thinking overrated. he always gets hurt or chokes, puts up good numbers but anyone can. stafford was the 4th person to throw for over 5000 yards ever but i dont think hes considered a top 10 qb in the league, if anything 9 or 10. ive never seen anything special with him since he broke into the league and i still dont. hes a pretty good qb but not a pro bowl, hall of fame type player
