The backlash would be so great from parents that are scared of the allegations that in the end, your actions will have put hundreds of your employees jobs at risk. Sometimes being a good leader requires you to allow others to do their job. The DA had the case and sat on it for 2 years. Why are they absolved from blame?
You consider a retired coach who uses university facilities on par with a CFO?
He was the ex-D Cordinator. Ex CFO who still uses the facilities is just as bad in the publics eye.

Did you find out who told or when Joe found out about the other allegations against Sandusky yet? I am sure there is a lot of information out there I just havent been able to find it on all the articles I have read.

Probably not as bad as the backlash of being the CEO and not firing that CFO who retired from your team shortly after a child sexual misconduct investigation, then the CEO was told by an employee of a specific incident happening that that employee had seen, then it turns out for the next 10 years, the CEO allows the CFO to use the company's facilities as recent as like a week before his arrest. All of that after the CEO testified to a grand jury regarding the issue 20 months before.

What would those employees say who may have brought their kids around that CFO over the previous 10 years at work functions or family type get togethers?

They would want to know why the police did nothing when the first allegations came to light. Why the police sat on the case for more than two years after the grand jury. They would want to know that the CFO took the advice of his legal team reported the case to the HR department.

Joe allowed this to happen under his watch and was fired. I dont think any of us are arguing the reality that he needed to lose his job. I just dont agree with everyone making accusations about what he knew without a single shred of evidence. I am still waiting for that evidence. Where is it?

I also am sick and disguisted with the AD and President, since they are reponsible for the entire university and have the legal power to restrict access. I am specially disguisted with the police, who failed to bring up charges the first time they questioned him and then took two years after the grand jury to press charges.

what accusations are people making? all people are saying is he didn't do enough. he didn't, there is no changing my mind of it. not only did he not do enough, but neither did the AD who was made aware, the president of the school and anyone else who was aware of the allegations.

i'm saying, imo, joe is a scumbag because he knew that this guy MIGHT have been a predator and still allowed him to have kids around him and allowed him on his campus/facilities when had the power to stop it.

and obviously you need to have facts before you make an accusation like that publicly.. but you don't to tell the guy to stay the fuck away from your campus/students and to stop working at the foundation.

Agreed he should have done more. Thats why he had to get fired. Not sure how he is suppose to stop the guy from working at the foundation, specially when your only kind of evidence is hearsey.

I am not going to call the guy a scumbag if all he had knowledge of was the one instance. Is it probable that he knew more, yes. But again, all we can confirm is that he knew of one instance.

Now, I am not going to praise him, I completely agree that he could have done more, but in reality, we all do not know exactly how we would have reacted in that situation.
We think we know, but you never know for sure.
And again, he did go to two people and 1 of them was a policeman.

To me, it just seems like people are forgetting that JoePa was not the one that did anything to those young boys and he did not ignore it.

If he ignored it, I would agree with you, but he went to his boss and his boss' boss who, by the way, is the head of the Penn State police.

But I completely agree about the guys that he did make aware about it, but I also understand that even when you hear about something like this, you have to walk a very fine line before you accuse someone of something like that.
You have to have proof and not just hearsay, but they could have questioned him and started their investigation immediately.

I guess though, thinking about it, the university, even on hearsay, should have made him stop using their facility to protect their own image. Sandusky should have been asked to move his program elsewhere.

I'm pretty sure you're smart enough to get the point I was making, which also renders your link meaningless.

good people make mistakes sometimes and bad people do really good things sometimes.

everyone can judge which they think Paterno was. i would guess most think he was a good guy who made a bad mistake. but mistakes like that don't just get wiped away and shouldn't because you won 400 football games and donated lots of money to a university.

Meaningless? Meaningless would suggest that it never happened, and that he never had an impact on Taliafero. Yes I took a chip at your timeframe, but if you really think what he did was meaningless then I don't know what else to say.

Dave has a good point. We're all debating opinion here, and no one ever concedes their opinion (nor should they, it's their own). I'm not going to argue opinion.

What he did for that kid is without question 100% meaningless towards what happened in the exact issue we're discussing. It's not even remotely relevant.

Sandusky has done a whole lot of good for kids in his days, surely, you think that is meaningful also, right?

What EXACT ISSUE are we discussing? All I posted was something mocking those people who were trying to say that Paterno was a bad person. Like Dave said, good people make bad mistakes. I'm not trying to say he did enough/didn't do enough, blah blah. All I was doing was posting the Reilly article that even addressed the bad parts (it was at the end, so let's be honest, you never got to it ;) ).

I'm not gonna argue the other stuff because like I said, it's all opinion and well all have different ones so it would be silly of us to do that.

Well don't quote half of what Dave says to prove epmhasize point when the other half helps to disproves your point LOL.

Funny you mention opinions, lol.

Because all along, I even went out of my way to say it one post, I've been giving my opinion on this issue. I gave my opinion on how i thought things went down about stuff I wasn't certain about. And I also gave my opinion on stuff that I was certain about(grand jury stuff)

Again, all opinions.

Your post with the link and the title of your link is certainly phrased as a fact, that anyone who thinks he's a horrible person is flat wrong. The sarcasm in that post basically would lead me, or anyone, to that conclusion, no?

Just throwing that out there... :D

A link to a consistently opinion-driven column written by Rick Reilly who in the column itself mentions that it's just his take on things is phrased as fact?

C'mon Man!
