This is way worse than what Miami has ever done for any normal person but I can feel miami would still get harsher penalties which is laughable

Kids partying and taking money versus a molester within the football program where the entire athletic department and president turned their head.

NCAA hates Miami!!!

i think 10 times outta 10 you'd rather parties and drugs than molested kids lol. They might not be sanctioned by NCAA rules, but they didnt break NCAA rules, they broke federal rules. No Jail > Jail

But you have to be consistent.

I understand nowhere near the same violations but where does the accountability start and end?

I was being facitious about comparing Miami and there's shouldn't be as bad.

But I'm also saying there should be penalties as it involved a person in the athletic department, committing crimes, and the athletic department and president of a school not addressing it.

Shouldn't matter how long ago it happened. There is no statute of limitations for crimes within a program or school is there??

Plain and simple penn state needs some kind of sanctions or reprimand.

Jerry's son has stepped down from his position with the Cleveland Browns.

I'm through Victim 3 in the report, reading between server updates here... unreal. As I said earlier, no punishment is severe enough. From what I've read so far, Spanier, Paterno and McQuery should all be gone.

DISCLAIMER: THERE IS A LOT OF POTENTIALLY UPSETTING AND GRAPHIC MATERIAL IN THIS REPORT. I HAVE MERELY SCRATCHED THE SURFACE HERE AND I'VE ATTEMPTED TO LEAVE OUT ANYTHING THAT MIGHT BE UPSETTING OR NSFW. IF YOU WANT TO FIND THE INFO OR READ FURTHER, THE REPORT IS BROKEN DOWN IN A SIMILAR FASHION TO THE WAY THAT I HAVE BROKEN IT DOWN HERE

Shel Notes:

Victim 1:
-11-12 years old - freshman in high school
-From the second mile
-would sleep over at Sandusky's house, slept downstairs
-Sandusky took him to penn state games, eagles games, bought him clothes, golf clubs, and gave him cash
-After the kid broke contact with Sandusky, Sandusky came to his school and would pull him out of class for "unmonitored meetings" (Sandusky was an assistant coach at the school)
-Sandusky did this with other kids at the school, and was eventually barred by the principal

Victim 2: (This is the big one they're talking about)
-A graduate student that was dropping some stuff off in the locker room around 9:30pm on a friday heard "slapping sounds" and saw Sandusky with a boy up against the wall in the showers. (I'm not going to continue, read that part if you'd like)
-Left, called his dad, dad told him to tell Paterno, told paterno by phone the next morning, Saturday. (this is 2002)
-Sunday Paterno called the AD to his home, and told him
-1.5 weeks later, the grad student was called to a meeting with the AD (Curley) and the VP of Finance (Schultz)
-A few weeks later the GA was told that Sandusky's keys to the locker room had been taken, and the incident had been reported to the 2nd mile. The GA was never questioned by the school police, and was not asked for anything until testifying for the grand jury in december 2010.
-Curley reported that the GA had told him a slightly different story (different acts, different sounds) than the GA had told him about, making it look like horseplay and not something more severe (denied that he told him exactly what he told him, twice).
-Schultz lied under oath

Victim 3:
-Met Sandusky in summer of 2000
-Would go to games with Sandusky, and work out in the gym, which led to showering afterwards
-Was uncomfortable, showered away from Sandusky, who then guilted him into moving closer.
-Also slept over at his house, and was touched etc. (not getting into it)
-Also knew about Victim 4

Victim 4:
-singled out of 2nd mile in 96 or 97
-was taken to PSU games, bowl games, football facility and golf/conference center where coaches played golf
-had physical contact in a pool at a picnic as a "test" according to the victim
-Sandusky had victim 4 work out and do other things, and they showered afterwards, and had "soap fights" which turned into wrestling in the showers (On campus, in football facilities)
-was listed as a part of Sandusky's family for the 1998 outback bowl and the 1999 alamo bowl ALONG with Sandusky's wife.
-Would stay with Sandusky at pre game festivities at Toftrees (conference center and golf where team and coaches stayed before home games). Attended meals with Sandusky, and shared a hotel room with him, where Sandusky would make numerous advances.
-Sandusky threatened to send victim 4 home from the alamo bowl when he resisted Sandusky's advances (I left out a lot of advanaces, once again, just read it if you want to see that).
-Victim 4 received clothes, shoes, a snowboard, hockey equipment and lessons, passes to sporting events, football jerseys, and registration to a soccer camp. Was guaranteed that he'd be a walk on at psu
-Appeared in a photo about Sandusky in sports illustrated
-"Victim 4 remembers Sandusky being emotionally upset after having a meeting with Joe Paterno in which paterno told Sandusky that he would not be the next head coach at Penn State and which preceeded Sandusky's retirement. Sandusky told Victim 4 not to tell anyone about that meeting, which happened in may of 1999."
-Victim 4 tried to distance himself, and had a girlfriend, that sandusky didn't approve of, he'd try to find him, and bribe him, buying him cigarrettes and marijuana (victim 4 had started smoking)

Victim 5:
-invited to 15+ games with Sandusky, went to his personal tailgate, was 8-10 years old at the time.
-Harassed in the sauna and showers after working out, resisted advances, and was no longer invited to games after that

Victim 6:
-Met him in 94 or 95
-Went to work out with Sandusky when he was 11 in 1998, they played some games called polish soccer and such that Sandusky invented, Sandusky insisted they shower, even though the boy wasn't sweaty. He tried to shower away from Sandusky, but he said that he had "warmed up" the shower for him, and so he came down. Sandusky made advances, and the boy tried to resist.
-Sandusky took him home, his hair still wet, and his mother became angry that they had showered together.
-Mother reported it to the university police, and after a lengthy investigation, the DA Ray Gricar said there would be no criminal charges filed and nothing happened
-Police detectives listened to 2 conversations between sandusky and the mother where he admitted to showering with and touching the boy. The mother told him to promise to never do this to another boy, and forbid him from seeing her son. He cried and said he was sorry and that he wished he was dead (Sandusky).

Skipping Victim 7, nothing major (I shudder to say that, but you get what I mean)

Victim 8:
-A janitor observed Sandusky showering with a young boy and had him pinned against the wall. He told other janitors, one who had also seen it but had an obstructed view (could only see feet). He saw Sandusky leaving the locker room with a gym bag and a young boy (believed to be 13), both with wet hair.
-When the janitor reported the incident to his co-worker, he said that he had fought int he korean war, and seen people with their guts blown out, and dismembered, but that he had just seen something that he'd never forget.
-The janitor supervisor that it was reported to never made a report, but is now in a nursing home, suffering from demetia, and is incompetent to testify.
-Victim 8's identity is not known.
-Sandusky supposedly did a couple of slow "pass throughs" of the parking lot later that night as a way of intimidating the temporarily employed janitor.

Trends (These popped up in all of them)
-Any time he drove a kid in the car, he would drive with one hand on their thigh
-He'd take them to Holuba hall, a building by the athletic facilities with locker rooms and shower
-Kids tended to be between 11-14 during assualts, some of which he had met earlier in their lives
-Gave them all gifts
-Met most from the 2nd mile foundation

I'm only just getting through victim 1, but it's awful. I'll try to make some shel notes for everyone
I saw that, skimmed it, and was sick to my stomach. I've always known there were people out there that preyed on boys. But you always think it's some sick pervert that you could pick out of crowd from 100 yards away for some reason. That it's a nationally prominent football coach is really scary. I always worry about my daughter because she's such a beautiful little girl. I've never really considered that I have to worry about my boys too.
It scares me to death as a POTENTIAL parent in god knows how long from now. Can't even imagine how it would feel as a parent, especially thinking about how "cool" it would be to get to hang out with players and such when I was that age, no knowing what I would have been getting into.

Just finished reading it all. This is mind blowing. The amount of people that knew 'something,' yet did 'nothing.' This was happening WHILE he was a coach for the school in the mid-late 90s.

The scary thing is... a 9th victim has emerged now that the case has been made public. How many more? Who else knew? Wow.

Seriously? I'm confused to how you think there shouldn't be penalties?

Reign gets it. Unless I am misunderstanding your joke?

Don't teach your kids to be pussies. Teach them to question everything. Sophomoric sounding, but it is why children get taken advantage of by adults - especially people who have a direct impact on them.

i just think ncaa penalties come from student athlete involved things, when the coaches are covering up for athletes or cheating to get them, lying to get them to play, etc. this didnt effect anything psu did on the field, the people will be punished(hopefully) in a real court and looks like all lost their jobs. idk tho, just my opinion

I've read that they've offered resignation as an option for Paterno and he refused and has or will be terminated. It's just a matter of finding a way to gracefully shove him out.

Completely agree.

The guy wasn't even coaching any more.

These guys, Paterno probably included, will get what is coming to them, but I don't think sanctions apply here.
