It's about this...
Re: Occupy Wall Street
i just reread this treat of a quote.Shiftdnb wrote: I do however hold them responsible for the mess they created with the derivatives market, which no one has been held accountable, the financial melt down due to the housing market(even if it was homeowners that defaulted, they knew what they were doing). Dare I mention the savings and loans scandals, Enron, insider trading.
you really think nobody has been held accountable? do you realize how many of the 1% have lost jobs, had their companies dissolve, scammers have gone to jail the past few years?

Re: Occupy Wall Street
Shift, the more I listen to you, the more confused I get. Are you against capitalism? Why are you upset if someone earns a lot of money? What is the end game here?

and you want to know who should be held accountable...
all the dickfucks who thought they could buy a house today and sell it for 20 % more tomorrow and that even tho they made 40,000 per year that they could afford a 400k mortgage with nothing down.
it was the regulation that was supposed to 'help the lowest' that caused this fucking mess.
more government! more regulation! lets make business harder on CEO's, that'll create jobs for all of those unemployed.

brwnbear wrote:-Thats how our republic works. We elect 1% of the population to govern 99%. If we dont like them, we elect a different 1% to govern the same 99%. Blaming wall street doesnt change reality. Milking them so they pay for an even higher majority of all tax revenue doesnt increase congress. It will still be 1% that represents 99%.
Oh if only that were true

Politics used to be a tool used to get into the position to govern. Now, politics and governing have become the same thing, hence the massive gridlock we have. And we don't really elect anybody anymore; the special interests and big businesses do, we just pick which one of their guys we think won't suck more.

Personal greed is ok. Its good to be greedy as long as you act ignorant. No one is going to blame you if you just tell them you didnt know real estate prices could go down. "The guy on the radio said investing in real estate is foolproof."DRiccio21 wrote:and you want to know who should be held accountable...

Corporate greed on the other hand, bad! US Corporations should not try to make money and compete with the rest of the world. They should focus their profits on hiring people to make peace blankets and building gummy bear bridges.
To the evil corporations:
Empty your bank accounts to hire people. Dont worry if their is no demand or if we increase your cost later. Just spend the cash. And if your company goes bankrupt because you have no cash left in another recession, we will just get pissed off at you for not being "frugal" and wasting all the money you had. We will say, "Hey stupid corporations, didnt you learn from the last recession? You should've kept plenty of cash on hand." Stupid corporations.

I am against someone that can make money exponentially in mere minutes and be taxed less than what I get taxed on my income. I am against watching people go unemployed and laid off when those people buy and sell in mere minutes. I am against companies laying employees off but paying their CEOs huge bonuses. I am against corporations failing and the fact it's okay to give them corporate welfare but the ideal that people on welfare are all taking advantage of it is used to shout down any social welfare. I am against politicians who take free healthcare but vote against free healthcare for everyone else. I am against politicians voting on anything that they have accepted money for. I am against watching someone die or go in huge debt just for breaking a leg or getting sick, because they couldn't afford healthcare or lost it due to a job loss. I am against watching kids go to school hungry because of the situation they were born in to. I am against educational disparity based on economic situation. I am against the ideals some of you have that everything is black and white and either you work or you don't without regards to health, social status, or ethnicity, while just calling it excuses. I am not a Socialist, I am a veteran who served this country and want it to be better for everyone, not just someone who already has the money.brwnbear wrote:Shift, the more I listen to you, the more confused I get. Re: Occupy Wall Street
the problem is, elected officials aren't for governing they're out there to keep their jobs.Shiftdnb wrote:Problem, the 1% aren't our elected officials they are just the people that are in the pockets of our elected officials. See you've hit the nail on the head by stating this. The problem is that our elected officials aren't for the people anymore. They vote for whatever gives them the better chance at filling their campaign coffers. Why is it that when you watch news about a presidential or congress election and it's about how much money someone has instead of where they stand on an issue?brwnbear wrote: -Thats how our republic works. I'm not sure money determines it, but they make deals with lobbyists who pay them and unions who support them in races to make decisions that are anti the rest of the populace. It's a war out here

you're right, cause anyone who believes in capitalism wants poor kids to starve to death and we all obviously came from money.Shiftdnb wrote:I am against someone that can make money exponentially in mere minutes and be taxed less than what I get taxed on my income. Re: Occupy Wall Street
This thread is making my head hurt.. Everyone should agree to just disagree. I m not even sure why I keep reading it.
Most people have pretty strong feelings about these topics, and it is very hard to convince someone of those feelings of anything differently, specially on topics such as these. Both sides could have valid points, but each side is going to disregard the valid points and focus on the invalid points.. Naturally how debates work .. You go in circles, and it is usually the side that can better articulate their points and grab better attention and pick apart the not so good points of the other that seems to come out on top.
Its pretty interesting the thoughts people have on the subject, tough. And even more interesting to see how many people avoided the conversation.
