I know there's been some discussion of this game in a thread about another game, much to Nole's consternation. So I've started a dedicated thread for it. Anyway, I was playing last night and somebody jumped into my game and started dropping stuff. I'm a level 32 soldier but I now how this shield that has over 2 billion hit points. I also have a shotgun, machine gun, and repeater pistol that dish out a billion points of damage each and these other guns that say "special something or other needed". Anybody else have this happen or know about these things? Surely someone else has been visited by the Borderlands fairy at some point.

That is kind of a tradition that was started by the developers. They use to come into lower level games and drop goods for everybody.

Yep, I've got two stock machine guns, a stock shotty, two stock repeaters, some sort of special sniper rifle, a special machine gun, and an alpha invincible shield with 2.4 billion hit points. I took down the Rakk Hive with one shot from the repeater pistol last night.

It's pretty cool. It's a cross between a FPS but it has RPG elements in that you progressively level up and have to attribute points toward different categories and abilities. It's an open world game too where you have huge areas to explore and things to do. Finally, the artwork in the game is pretty cool. It's very reminiscent of old school cartoons. Also, you can get the greatest hits version for $20 or another version with all the DLC included for regular price.
