I always give the game high ratings but it bores me from back in the day when it was so innovative and new.

If not for the NDL, I wouldnt play. The game has been very solid the last couple versions. Sure it can always be improved but it should always get high ratings for it being what it is.

Just from our perspective we may have burned out on NCAA so long ago and the addition of all the other better games and seeing how awesome this game can be is frustrating.

I guess I'm on the other side of the boat here. I love NCAA and look forward to it every year. I think the game offers a lot of depth. If guys get 'bored,' then I think that is because they aren't challenging themselves while playing it. If you run with an A program in your dynasty and you play with the same playbook every year, then I'm sure it would get boring. Change it up, try a new challenge. Run the flexbone with an academy, run the RnS with Hawaii/SMU, switch up your defensive philosophy, try controlling a different defender. I think a lot of the boredom comes from being stuck in the same thing over and over. Yeah, I get that it might be what works best for you, but maybe what really needs to matter is what is fun.

The game has 120 different teams, with different goals and obstacles to overcome. If you're smacking around OSU, while using Army, on Heisman, at will... then I get it. But that is the very rare minority.

As for flaws, they are in every game, and always will be.

The truth is, I think a lot of the boredom is driven by the monotony of our regular season. You play the same guys every year, you see the same things.

As far as this year vs. last year... I haven't played it enough to see all of the problems. Those take time. That is why you see early returns that are favorable about what guys like. As the issues become obvious, those get pointed out. That's the way things work in all parts of life. You don't make decision based on hindsight.

As of right now, I love the custom playbooks, I like that zone seems better and based on what I've seen/read, I think the online dynasty setup is going to be a huge improvement. In a few weeks, I might find more flaws in the zone (4 verts still works and super jumping lbs are annoying), but until then, I like where it's at. To say those 3 things aren't improvements over last year seems pretty off base.

What is it that you like better about 11, 10 or even 5 and does that outweigh the changes made for 12? Sure the stuff the touted is lame, it always is, but for our purposes, I think the improvements were on point.

It really does.

I want the crowd to go absolutely nuts in a rivalry game when I am on D, making it hard to anything.

Its so tamed and just "is there a crowd?"

This is the first thing I noticed in my first and only game last night. Never understood when a team gets a pick why the crowd just doesn't go berserk in any of the versions. This was the worst by far though in any of the versions that I noticed.

The new tackling isn't just cool, it's game changing.

I'm going to use an example from Madden 11 since I played it much more than NCAA 11.

There are two animations in Madden 11 that propel the bar carrier forward: one is normally reserved for backs with high trucking and the other is trigger quite frequently regardless of the stats and size of the ball carrier.

The first one has the ball carrier looking as if he was tripped but squeezing every yard before falling, or possibly he is being shot in non-fatal areas of his body and stumbling out of control. Either way, this animation is good for about 6-11 yards every time and can rarely have its momentum stopped or altered.

The second one is very common and involves the carrier following forward with the defender. This one is much more realistic but happens so much that even Joe McKnight could knock Vince Wilfork on his ass. This animation is a bitch on the goal line as it's an easy touchdown once it is triggered. Like the example above, you really cannot stop the momentum of the ball carrier.

During an online game late last night against some chump who ran no huddle and scrambled with Jacory Harris all day, I realized that this new tackling system could change the way games are won and lost, especially those back and forth games.

Example: I was using WSU and he had just scored to cut my lead from 14-6 (he went for two at 7-6 lol) and with it being the 4th quarter he obviously went for two. He handed the ball off to his running back who ran left and hit my linebacker at an angle. At first it looked like I was going to get the animation in the second Madden example but my corner comes over and, with my LB still engaged, the corner stopped the back's momentum and my safety came as all 3 of them pushed the back from an animation score to a stop at about the 1 and a 1/2. That's pretty much where I realized this tackling system is legit.

Oh. And gg Corey. :D

I agree, I just bought the game yesterday and did not get a chance to play last night. I will be on tonight though.
But hearing stuff like this makes me very inspired. About time they have something to stop the animations. Some of them, as Matt mentioned, were ridiculous and were guaranteed yards.

Yeah that animation happens way too much. After a play where the back picks up a first down, even if it is just a 1 yard run, they lay on their side and fist pump.
