As of right now, we don't really know much at all. Sony's message was very vague. An external intrusion could mean many things. It could be that somebody got into the system or it could be that a security hole was found when doing pen testing.

Odiously, the main thing is that the networks was so vulnerable that they had to take it offline to close up the hole. The fact that it's been down for days would indicate that they had to really change around the architecture of the network.

The amount of money lost has to be deep into the millions by now.

No shit millions and no telling how much lost potential income from people who will think twice before buying a PS3 or PSP based on perception of being hacked and info being stolen. Millions of People have 300 buck paperweights sitting on entertainment centers and 60 buck games collecting dust. Patch the damn thing and lets go.

No, you have a paperweight because you don't play any single player games.

Fuck that Noise. Unlike you, I dont like playing with myself on a daily basis. Multiplayer or nothing. Most of us played sports, so we like the competition vs another person.

That doesn't mean that people don't enjoy the competition of completing an offline game.

I much rather beat Big Mike in Football than the CPU, Much rather beat a clan on COD, than beat the CPU. That is more enjoyable to me. Playing a single player game is a waste of time. more power to folks who do it, but I have a small window to play after kids go to bed. Sure I get to play most every night but much rather play with a group of guys than vs CPU

I wouldn't bust your ass if you hadn't said, "Millions of People have 300 buck paperweights sitting on entertainment centers ". It sucks that the PSN is down and I'd rather be playing COD online myself but there is still a lot you can do on the PS3.

aaaaaaaaaaaand with that I'm off to visit the parents for Easter. So, the PSN will prob come back online tonight since I have no way of getting on. :|

Point being, I am fairly certain the main function for millions of players on the ps3 is the multiplayer function. Just like buttfucking your boyfriend is your main function, but when he has anal fissures thats out of the question. Sure you can get a blow job or a hand job, but his 16 year old hands are small and his braces carve up your cock.

Well since the PSN has been down I've played half of Red Dead Redemption, played a ton of Black Ops combat training with the kids, and watched Restrepo. One thing I'm worried about with this supposed hack or whatever it is, is that Sony will now say they have to charge us a fee to play online in order to cover the cost of increased online security.

This is just a rumor (going to preface that now), but it's starting to pick up steam.

From what I've heard (I have a friend who knows some people who are huge nerds and hackers), the hack wasn't just to take down the Playstation Network, it was to mess with Sony and screw them over. Apparently, people were getting stuff on Thursday from the Playstation Store for FREE! On top of that, there are rumors that some people were buying things and then actually having money credited to their accounts.

It would explain why EA has been so quiet and unwilling to give any information out about it, as this would be an even bigger embarrassment and could hurt future sales, if people are afraid that their accounts aren't safe and the Store isn't secure.

The one thing this HAS done is allow me to put down my "online" games for a bit and FINALLY play some Assassin's Creed Brotherhood....and now I could care less about the PSN, this game is so damn addictive and fun. It's why I stopped playing after an hour when I first got it, I had to

Seriously, anybody who hasn't played it, you're missing out....the fighting is fun as hell, I pick fights with guards just for sport. Nothing like busting someone in the head with a battle hammer baseball swing.

This situation has exposed just how much of a trophy whore I've become. As I couchsurf, I like to sign on to the PS3 using my name on my friends' machines so I can play their games but accumulate trophies just the same. Nope! No mas!

Latest PR. I am calling Monday at the earliest.

We sincerely regret that PlayStation Network and Qriocity services have been suspended, and we are working around the clock to bring them both back online. Our efforts to resolve this matter involve re-building our system to further strengthen our network infrastructure. Though this task is time-consuming, we decided it was worth the time necessary to provide the system with additional security.

We thank you for your patience to date and ask for a little more while we move towards completion of this project. We will continue to give you updates as they become available.

What I don't like about games like Assassins Creed is the shitty AI. You are standing there fighting 5 guys but only 1 attacks you at a time. I hate that. In real life, 4 guys would not stand around and watch their buddy get whacked. I wish they had it where they would all team up on you.
They are fun games, no doubt.

You can adjust the difficulty. That said, they have to do that in order for you to be able to do counters and run through the animations.

Sony should give everyone some free shit for this. Say, $5 PSN gift card.
