Airline Flights
Airline Flights
What search engine do you use for flights? I have to book a few flights coming up and would like to find the best deal possible.

Usually, I pick up a cheap voucher off of ebay, then book direct from the airline. Just be sure to shop around to ensure that your net price is the lowest.

Hmm. Can you explain this? I never even heard of this technique.ReignOnU wrote:Usually, I pick up a cheap voucher off of ebay, then book direct from the airline. Just be sure to shop around to ensure that your net price is the lowest.

Re: Airline Flights
It's been about 6 months since I've had to book a flight, but I've done it this way the last 4-5 times I've flown (without a package).
Anyway, you know the airlines offer the travel vouchers for a billion different reasons. A lot of people, including people that work for the airlines and get them, sell them. So you can frequently pickup a 25/50/100 voucher for about 20% of the price. Just be sure to go to the website of the airline you're flying with to make sure there aren't any limitations on the voucher usage.
For each time I've purchased on Ebay, the sellers have always sent me the code for the voucher with in 15min, via email.

Yeah... I think the sale of the vouchers might be prohibited on Ebay... but if you keep watching, they'll pop up on there.

Re: Airline Flights
Not prohibited, double checked the terms. I don't see much on there right now. The transfer is prohibited by the airline, just be sure the person you're buying from has great feedback. I tried to search my history to see how the seller was, but it only goes back 2 months. I used the same seller for my last 2 flights though, he listed all Airtran stuff.
Beware, there are tons of frauds out there though. I've read all kinds of horror stories about voucher purchasing off of oddball sites.

Re: Airline Flights
Expedia and Kayak are the 2 i go to when not flying American.
My suggestion is to get signed up for Frequest Flyer programs for free. Then they send you specials via email. A more proactive approach after signing up and you have a FF#, you can usually find a Fare Sales section that will send you alerts. For example American even lets you enter for deals from your home or nearby airport to specific destinations.
Other advice is to even after you find a deal from a certain site go to the source airline and repeat the search. Another wuick note would be to perform the same search during different times of the day sometimes the fares fluctuate a little sometimes a significant ammount based on when you book.
good luck...
