Life out there...
We had a pretty good thread a few years ago on whether life exisits outside of earth.
I among others were pretty suprised to find that it was about 50/50.
I still contend that purely from a mathematical standpoint given the size of the universe...siht..even the galaxy there has to be some form
anyway, not to start that whole convo up again but i find these kind of articles fascinating.
I'll be waiting on the natgeo / science channel special as over the last few years they have gotten stale and seem to be same ol crap over and over again

Re: Life out there...
I am with you Nole. They continue to find new depths to our galaxy and other galaxies.
My opinion is that I think we are fools to think we are the only planet with life on it.
There has to be something else somewhere out there.
Again, just my opinion. I am not trying to start an argument/war.

Universe is so huge there has to be. Doesn't mean they are human like but there has to be other life forms somewhere you would think.

or this....

Re: Life out there...
Yea, mathematically, I don't think it's possible for there not to be life, and lots of it. The size of the universe and the amount of stars and planets is just too large to even grasp.
The only thing that I know for sure is that we don't really know shit. I have a feeling that if we ever discover the truth about how the entire universe works that it's going to be far different than any of our beliefs today.

You're probably talking about the Mars meteorite that was found in the late 90s. It contained structures in it that look like fossilized bacteria. That one is still being debated.Hart4Heisman wrote:havent they already found bacteria on some moon or planet somewhere. i thought i remembered reading that.

I also agree with everybody else. Intelligent or not, there has got to be something else out. Thinking we're the only ones in the universe is awfully arrogant.

Intelligent life on other planets is the death knell for religion on Earth. It won't obliterate it, but it will knock off 50% of the believers. Please, aliens, come down!!! We need you to destroy religion so we can live a better life!

I do agree with that second statement. And yes Trendon your are probably correct as well, but I won't get into explaining why it would not be an issue with my relationship and faith in God as I am sure we could go 9+ pages if we start going that directionUnTouchable8 wrote:Religion will be the ultimate demise of humankind.trendon wrote:Intelligent life on other planets is the death knell for religion on Earth.
