DirecTVSunday Ticket Customers
call and ask for a discounted rate. the normal rate is $300. if you call and say "cancel sunday ticket" at the prompt, they should send you to a representative. you can go at them two ways: my friends got a deal for $179 or you can do the hardball "i want to cancel" routine. i did choice one and got no grief. everything is included this year as far as superfan and hd goes. you might play hardball and get the nfl-to-go stuff for free for watching on your phone and computer.
i called this number: 800-353-4388
someone told me it was a preferred customer number with less wait time. who knows? i got through really quickly, though. they said the system is down right now for about another hour, but they noted my account for when i call back later.
redzone channel and 30 minute replays FTW!

Re: DirecTVSunday Ticket Customers
Im THIS close to signing up for DirectTV and was hoping they would shoot me a sign up discount on the NFL Sunday Ticket.
I was told not to sign up yet because as it gets closer to football season they will offer huge discounts on the package to try and lure.
Cable prices are so freakin ridiculous lately and to be honest I dont watch that much TV at all so Im just screwing myself as well.
If you dont mind me asking the DirectTV peeps, what do you pay a month and what does that include?
I want a basic cable lineup (mostly in HD) and 2 HD DVR boxes but can settle with 1.
Thanks, Ill hang up and listen to your response.

Re: DirecTVSunday Ticket Customers
I pay a little over $80, with 3 boxes (1 HD DVR, 1 HD, 1 SD), all the HD channels, and the sports pack. I think they are running a promotion where you can lock your initial price in for life. You have to be willing to haggle or it gets expensive. If your promo runs up, call them and get a better rate. It takes persistence, but you can generally get $30 knocked off the full price after the promo ends.Cnasty wrote:Im THIS close to signing up for DirectTV and was hoping they would shoot me a sign up discount on the NFL Sunday Ticket.

Re: DirecTVSunday Ticket Customers
$80 is awesome.
Id probably keep my cable internet instead of going to ATT or something but the cable itself for TV is insane.

Re: DirecTVSunday Ticket Customers
I'm hesitant to look into DirectTV because I've always heard that it goes out a lot with bad weather. Not sure how accurate that is so can anyone who has it relate?
Also, does this mean you have to get a DirectTV box for every room with a TV?

Yea that was my worry as well but I checked with my South NDL contingency and they have never had the problem.
This includes the fine states of Florida and Georgia.

Only in really high wind have I lost the signal. Yes, you would need a box for each TV, although I heard Direct TV was getting a box like Dish that would power two TVs. I think they have a DVR you can use in different rooms. Also, you can get a HD DVR and HD receiver when signing up. I had to badger them for quite a while to get my 2nd HD receiver free of charge. If you do go the Direct TV route, make sure you say you were referenced by a friend (this can be any Direct TV customer). You have to have their account number, and you get $100 off and your friend gets $100 off. I think it comes to you as $10 off your bill for 10 months.

Well, if this goes through, the move for both of us will be a no brainer:Cnasty wrote:Im THIS close to signing up for DirectTV and was hoping they would shoot me a sign up discount on the NFL Sunday Ticket.

And also. When we moved into the house i actually signed up for direct tv but cancelled the night before thy were gonna come set shit up. With discounts, the 1st year was cheaper than Brighthouse, but after that it woulda been a bit more expensive.

Yea I am done with Brighthouse. They suck big time.
Im going cheap because Im cutting back big time as I dont watch as much TV and Im going down to one DVR box as I rarely use the one in the Canes room.
May keep their internet though as I dont trust ATT.

My setup is that I have DTV for television, and Suddenlink (Cable) for internet and phone. The cable company will want to charge a higher price because it's not bundled, but you can get them down there as well. I pay about $60 for cable internet and phone. They wanted to charge over $80.

Re: DirecTVSunday Ticket Customers
yeah, directv has some new deal with one dvr running things and you can watch from all tvs in the house. no clue about it. just have seen the commercials.

I just heard over radio that DTV is offering Sunday Ticket and then get 5 months free other tv packages. If you want the Sunday Ticket, might be good time to get it.

Re: DirecTVSunday Ticket Customers
DirecTV is now offering whole house DVR.
It is $3 more per month over the regular DVR service.
It allows you to record a show on your DVR box and watch it in any room of the house that you have at least an HD box in.
If you have a standard TV in another room with a regular DirecTV box, it will not work in that room.
As far as price, if you are a new customer, they are offering their 250 channel package for like $60 a month right now and Free HD for Life.
Since I have had them within the past 2 years, I would have to get it setup under my wife's name for the Free HD. It is a $10/month fee normally.
And I agree that cable internet is much better than ATT DSL.
Well worth it there. I have cable TV right now, but just called DirecTV last week looking to go back to them. So this is all still relatively fresh on my mind.
And as far as waiting to get Sunday Ticket...when I tried that in the past, you might save like $20.
But it is not a crazy deal they give if you wait.
And honestly, I want to say it was like 3-4 weeks into the NFL season and it was only like $30 or $40 off the regular price.

Re: DirecTVSunday Ticket Customers
I did this and the representative threw in the NFL-To-Go for free, which is $9.99 per month for five months. Basically, I am watching all the games for $174.00 + free NFL-To-Go at $29.00 per month for six months. Better than paying $49.00 + $9.99 per month. If you do not have the NFL Sunday Ticket, you could be paying $59.99 per month for six months as compared to current subscribers who renew at the $49.00 per month for six months. In total, I am receiving all the games for $29.00 per month for six months along with the phone package. I did this last year, as they did it for $24.99 per month for six months........they cannot go any lower, as one of my friends tried on his account and it came out to $29.00 per month for six months. Thanks for the head's up again Tim.......I almost forgot to call.vicktim7 wrote:call and ask for a discounted rate. the normal rate is $300. if you call and say "cancel sunday ticket" at the prompt, they should send you to a representative. you can go at them two ways: my friends got a deal for $179 or you can do the hardball "i want to cancel" routine. i did choice one and got no grief. everything is included this year as far as superfan and hd goes. you might play hardball and get the nfl-to-go stuff for free for watching on your phone and computer.

When I called back later that night I got the nfl-to-go thrown in for free as well. Interested to play with that this fall.

Re: DirecTVSunday Ticket Customers
I am a Direct TV owner and I love it! Lots of HD channels. Right now at least in my area they are offering 2 upgrades free meaning one HD and one HD DVR for free which normally cost $100 and $199 without the free upgrades.Whole DVR setup requires both of these.Basically record on the DVR and watch on the other HD receiver as well as the DVR receiver.Either or.Off the bat I got 4 rooms setup and anymore I think will cost ya.As for the NFL Ticket I have never got it but heard people got discounts when they got it hooked up around start of the season.Their website should tell you of any promotions if they have any.
Re: DirecTVSunday Ticket Customers
bumping for that time of the year.
i called the regular number this time, said "cancel service" at the first two prompts and got a customer service rep. my sunday ticket was supposed to be $324 this year. i played the "my friend got a deal" card and got:
$10 package discount x 12 months- $120
$10 discount for enrolling in autopay x 24 months- $240
$10 off sunday ticket x 6 months- $60
pays for itself. they didn't throw in the nfl-to-go thing which, by the way, came in real handy last year. i've got a thunderbolt now, so i'm expecting big things out of it. i'll have to call back and do the dance to hopefully get it again. even if i have to pay, i've come out ahead this year.

im going to make the call soon. thanks
Re: DirecTVSunday Ticket Customers
Let me know what happens...I was dropping showtime, and the dude took Ticket off, so they were charging me 66 instead of the renewal rate of 54...called and complained, and they gave me the renewal rate, free HD, and NFL to Go, but I wanted to see if anybody has better luck.
