No it doesn't. It's guaranteed to stuff the run when you guess run middle, and it's going to lead to a sack on a lot of pass plays, if you don't have a line the likes of Alabama. It's cheese. Defend without it.

Why don't we just play rock paper scissors then? Since that's your mindset and you obviously only care about winning, instead of having fun--because few will enjoy playing your ass with that mindset.

The strategy stuff isnt needed and dont know why anyone would even use it? Opening up that Pandora's box is going to be fun.
Im LOVING this game. Has everything we have been asking for in an NCAA version.
The offense and run game is very balanced. Im actually enjoying running the ball.
The defense has the upper hand but I have seen some big plays as well.
I actually think we should look into 7 minute quarters with how the clock runs down after each play automatically.
Just an observation.

I just don't understand what EA is thinking with the accelerated clock thing. What is the point? Is T.O.P. that big of a deal? I don't even think you can change the accelerated clock this year even in unranked games...Cnasty wrote:The strategy stuff isnt needed and dont know why anyone would even use it? Re: Impressions of Ncaa 2011....
Maybe Im not understanding the clock run off that happens?
It seems it runs off automatically and shortens the games and number of plays?
Im good with either but if we are losing 10 seconds instantly after each play where the clock runs, we should compensate for that.

It has been in the game for years and it was only outlawed last seon because of how powerful stop the run was. It is different this year and until you test it you are ignorant on the sunject and I will not argue with you.jsence2 wrote:Dolemitesooner wrote:Have you tested it?jsence2 wrote:Dolemitesooner wrote:commit adds another element to the game and that's why its fun to play with. Re: Impressions of Ncaa 2011....
Not arguing and dont want to get into this, but why use them at all?
There are other ways to strategically beat your opponents without having to resort to a simple EA type addition and be lazy about it?
Mix up your Ds, blitz when you think run, keep them on their toes.
I am honestly just trying to see the view from anyone who thinks they are ok to use and support the additions.
I am on the total opposite side of the spectrum but trying to hear you guys out. Thats all.

I've played lobby games. I've seen how people use it. I'm not ignorant on the subject, I've had it used AGAINST me. I'm proud to say I haven't used it once and I've had some GREAT games--glad to see you have though. Wonder why that would be.....
Like Corey said, use SKILLS ON THE STICKS, and use your BRAIN, to beat people, instead of playing Roshambo, EA style, and letting your computer player swarm somewhere. If you need that crap, go play lobby games, sounds like you'll fit right in.

I dont get the ticket thing Holla Pino...

Re: Impressions of Ncaa 2011....
I'm going to play the devils advocate on this whole strategy thing. When used in moderation I think it's fine but abusing it is lame. Now having said that for people like CNasty who ask why even use it. Well not everyone has the stick skills, some need a little bit of the strategy stuff to help stop someone who can just user catch everything and can consistently gain 5 yards a rush. It's all about moderation. Nobody wants to see the jump snap every single play when you're the away team and you're getting lit up every time, or the play the pass or run strategy every single time.
Re: Impressions of Ncaa 2011....
Okay, Dole is a veteran of this league and has been around since season 7. He knows what the NDL is and what it's about. All he did was simply make a statement and observation about a feature of the game that had been outlawed from last years game.jsence2 wrote: Why don't we just play rock paper scissors then? In the history of the NDL we have always looked into modifying rules for the new game because sometimes EA fixes things that were broken. For instance line crashes weren't allowed on the ps2 because they would come in untouched whether it was a pass or run play. Another example is HB Direct, it used to be a "money" play. It no longer is guaranteed to work everytime now.
I myself will go with whatever the league decides but I have tried the commits which I never did last year because they were ridiculous. What I have noticed is what Dolemite was making in his observation, If I'm defending 3rd and 22 why as a D-Coordinator would I not be expecting pass. It doesn't guarantee sacks but what it does do so far that I've seen is making the defense make smarter decisions in defending the pass. They don't get sucked in by pump fakes or play action and the corners won't get burned deep on streak routes.
But to tell a veteran of the league to go back to the lobby. Not cool, let's all respect each other and handle the issues with this game like adults.

Ok, but then you get into the issue of when/why you're using it. Do you use it down by the goalline? Do you use it every time it's third and short? You start getting into the realm of "doing whatever it takes to win". And as I said before, if it's a short pass or a PA pass, often if the other person guesses "run middle", you're going to get sacked unless you have a Jacory Harris type QB who can run away and dump it.

This is something I think we might need to look at. It doesn't seem like you can hurry to the line (I'm a maniac about that), without using the 'aggressive tempo' setting. If you do use that setting, you're guys fall over dead in about 5 plays. 7 min quarters seems like a very good idea to me. I'll probably set my personal dynasty up that way. (More testing to be done obviously)

Corey I like commti because it can improve the game play by adding yet another element. I am not stupid enough to use it every play like some people, but in moderation I think it can be very fun to use.Cnasty wrote:Not arguing and dont want to get into this, but why use them at all?

Play the pass really seems to keep the defense back. In NCAA I have seen were people complete time and again 3-22 and in real life that just does not happen that often. When playing the pass you are going to have to call a great route against the Defense and make a great throw. I like that.
If you have been running to the left a lot in the game why should I not be able to tell my defense to rush that side. I will stop it easier if your a smart coach and you set me up you will burn me right and I will chalk it up to good coaching. Last year the commit was overboard when it came to the run and I agreed for the most part that it not be used. I think its more balenced this year and I think people should give it a try and reamin neutral and make an educated decision that is all.
If you decided against it. Fine We all have our opinons and I understand.
Quack and I tested some stuff out last night with open minds, and we have never been just about winning in this league ever. We are both guys who have won very few games and we still stick around because we have fun. I really get flustered when people say I am cheese or that I am all about winning because I am not very good and even with cheese I have a hard time winning. LOL
As for the strategy stuff thats something differnt. On aggresive they seem to really be bad. I am talking about commit
