He plays for Atletico Madrid. He played for Manchester United before that, but didn't get much playing time. He was already a top star before this tournament, just many outside of Spain didn't know much about him. He was already in top form coming out of the Europa League, scored two goals in the final against Fulham (Dempsey's team).
plus hes 29, for a striker thats nearing the end, he wont be making much more because of this tourney.

I think he's got another 5-6 years in him, in a Del Piero role--not being an out-and-out striker, but more of a center forward. He's kinda played that role through the tournament, dropping back to link up between the midfield and Suarez. Plus his dead-ball skills are top notch. But you're right, he won't get much more money from this. I don't think Atletico have any intentions of selling him, or THEY might profit on him; but he won't get much more in terms of wages.

Looked him up says he is 31 years old. Thats really old for someone that plays his spot right? Kinda like a HB in football?

yes and no.

For someone like Henry, it is. Henry was mostly about pace and outdribbling someone. Forlan is more of a technical striker.

Think of it like a hard-nosed runner, every down back, vs someone like Kevin Faulk, a specialist/3rd down guy. Faulk will last a lot longer because his game isn't about outrunning guys or running them over; he's got extra skills that make him valuable and if he loses a step, it won't be the end of him.

Forlan's passing ability and vision will lead to him still being able to make an impact as a center forward or an attacking midfielder. Suarez, when he gets to Forlan's age, won't. He's pure pace and scoring, not a technical player.

Hope that makes sense.

I'd agree with you.....

.....but Sneijder is my fantasy captain (double points) and that goal just put me on about 5 or 6 bets, so I'm cool with it being allowed to stand :D

Especially when you ahve money riding on the correct score being either 3-1, 4-1, or 3-2....and you can't bet anymore to hedge for a 3-3

If tomorrow's match is half that entertaining, we will be in for a treat.

There may be hope for USA soccer!!!

....in about 20 years

Cristiano Ronaldo became a father last month--and the child's mother, identity unknown, is an AMERICAN!

Now we'll have someone to win us unearned free kicks

How good is Charlie Davies compared to the other US strikers? I have watched a lot of the national team but I don't think that I have ever seen him play. I know he was injured for the WC.

I'll never understand why a dude like him, at 25 years old, would WANT to have a kid through a surrogate.

That is weird as hell.

I don't think it was a surrogate thing. He has two homes over here in the US, I think he banged some chick (I mean hell, he was caught sneaking out of Paris Hilton's house the morning after he signed his huge deal with Real Madrid, so god knows who else he hooked up with) and instead of paying a ton of child support, he paid her a nice chunk of change and took guardianship of the kid. Odds are it will stay with his family in Portugal.

Davies' pace is what helps. He is able to make runs that not only can lead him to get into scoring position, but he can stretch the defense and give guys like Altidore more room to operate between the defense and midfield. He's not the greatest finisher, but with his pace, he gives Donovan and Dempsey, etc, more room to maneuver and create. We really lacked that. Findley has solid pace and you saw how much things opened up when he was out there; but he can't finish.

I don't know, the couple of links I saw said it was a surrogate, but I obviously have no idea.

Also at the same time, threw $10 on halftime draw/full time Holland, at +1600. Kinda wishing I'd done more now, but it was just a "you never know" throwaway bet. Love it :D

How am I unbelievable? Because I didn't get on and post every damn little bet I made beforehand? Seeit can vouch for me seeing as I was telling him as I MADE the bets (including when I hedged on my 3-1 score bet by betting on 4-1 and 3-2 as well). Sorry that when I'm doing live betting, I don't get on here and tell you every tiny detail.

I missed quite a few today as well as hitting quite a few; but I made a profit. If you want a full rundown I'll be happy to give you one.

My guess would be because you aren't using a perfect "system" to rank probability of goals based on past results and current officials and you don't blog about it before you bet, yet you still win... that probably makes him mad ;)
