Golfers
Re: Golfers
I shoot about 110 or so, we only have two courses so I've learned them pretty well.
Re: Golfers
If you learned them pretty well you wouldn't be shooting 110's on an 82Uuaww wrote:I shoot about 110 or so, we only have two courses so I've learned them pretty well.

72.
Re: Golfers
101 today.
Hadn't played in a month. How rusty was I?
57 on the front 9 (0 pars), 44 on the back (4 pars).
Took me half the round to figure out what I was doing wrong. Got to remember to go to the driving range at least once before the next time I get out.

Re: Golfers
wow huge improvement on the back 9. After not playing all year, I would be happy with the improvement from front to back. My first round out I just look to hit a few good shots and not really worry about score.

Re: Golfers
Hey bearass, if you still live in Norman go to Jimmie Austin Golf Course (OU's course). They have a good driving range and a sweet short game area to practice putting and then another area to practice chipping.

Bearass if you're in the Austin area anytime soon you can have my old Ping Zings, they're just sittin in my garage. Great condition just need some new grips. I just bought myself a new set of Ping G5s with my tax return. Love them. I play golf about 3-4 times a month and still only consistently shoot between 90-100.
may swing down

Re: Golfers
Played yesterday and shot a 92.
I normal shoot anywhere from 85- 95
I would say my handicap is about a 15. The thing that is holding me back is my Wedge game. That's the only area I am not real good at right now. I know all it is is practice too. If I chiped and putt 3 days a week I would venture into the 70's a couple of times a year on a easy course, but I just choose to do other things. I only play once or twice a week.

Re: Golfers
I finally got out today for the first time and played a 9 hole course in my town. I played 2 balls to get my 18 holes in and shot an 80. It's usually a par 33, but they were working on one of the tee boxes, so it was playing as a par 32 today. Not too shabby for the first time out, it equates to about an 88 which is about where I shoot.
Re: Golfers
Up at 5 am on my Friday off (again) for a round. It's an hour drive from here (Nicklaus Design Course):

Re: Golfers
How was it dak? How much did it cost?
Re: Golfers
Cheap (relatively speaking).
I book nearly all the tee times I play at http://www.golfnow.com.
We played this course for $50, which I thought was a great deal.
The course, however, was murder. It is a 145 slope (for those that know what that means).
Incredibly tight driving areas. Lots of fairways with breaks (you carry 200 yards off the tee, then 80 yards before the green is a bunch of scrub, so you have to hit two perfect shots to get on). Deep pot bunkers next to the greens. And pretty much all the greens were multi-tiered with some crazy pin placements. Generally speaking it was a nice course, but hard to get much of a rhythm on. The other thing I didn't like is that the fairways were very undulated, so you hardly ever had a flat lie, which is rather frustrating.
We basically all stopped keeping score after the front nine and just enjoyed being outside on a day off of work.
It will be a while before I'm back playing there.
To top it off, this happened on the freeway that I had to take to and from the golf course today. Happened during our round, so we were forced to take a slight detour home:

Re: Golfers
Up at 5:15 this Saturday morning. 7 am tee-time at Brookside Golf Course in Pasadena (next to the Rose Bowl).
I swear, playing weekly has to start helping my golf game at some point.

Yep, I think thats the #1 thing that helps...just getting out and playing on a regular basis.dakshdar wrote:Up at 5:15 this Saturday morning. 7 am tee-time at Brookside Golf Course in Pasadena (next to the Rose Bowl).

Re: Golfers
92 today, 46 front, 46 back.
Really should have broken 90. Had two lateral hazard outs and three putt three of the last six holes.
And I could drive worth a lick today. Best shot was a super sweet 5 iron to 7 feet from 176 yards. Couldn't make the birdie on that one, though.

Back to Brookside in Pasadena tomorrow, playing course #1 instead, at 7:15 am.
Really looking to get under 90 this time out. Three trips to the range this week, really think I worked out a few things with repeatability of my swing, turning the hips, and bringing the hands through at the last instant. Hit a ton of great looking and shots last night at the range that felt super easy and smooth.
Played in scrambles the last two weekends. One was ok, but two weekends in a row was annoying. Couldn't get into the rhythm of the game.
