It absolutely is not. Rooting for one player(s) or competitor because he has the same skin color is no different than rooting for the guy from your hometown/school/job. It is natural for humans to align themselves with people who share characteristics. Now, if you are rooting against a black guy solely because he is black or because you think his skin color makes him inherently inferior, then you are getting to racism.

I think we have the biggest problem with racism; it has become so taboo (thanks to our fucking grandparents, great-grandparents, etc) that anything that even MENTIONS race is racist. It is insane.

1) Root for Toby Gerheart because he is white and there aren't a lot of white running backs being successful: racist
2) Root for Jerome Iginla because he is black and there aren't a lot of black hockey players leading the league in scoring: racist

the only reason we look at skin color as racism is because someone told us we should look at it that way... we dont go around alienating people becaue of their hair color or eye color... its no different

100% agree. At the end of the day though, it's what the parents and grand parents before us taught/were taught and theres wayyyy too many people in the world (especially with the internet) to change this.

I was watching this documentary on hitler, and they said because of the internet now, people can have more power than he did. He moved his message across just Germany but from it stemmed small pockets and now hate is EVERYWHERE.

I give it another 200 years though before the majority of the world is tanned from interracial relationships.

Racism is the same as Hetero/Homosexual insults, Fat/Skinny insults, Wealth/Poor insults, as long as everyone isn't equal, everyone isn't gonna have the same views.

It really comes down to letting it slide. The simple fact that a WORD (for each culture) is so offensive and people are offended kills me.

I love America, and I wish every day I was born there so I could of had a better life (potential scholarships in sports etc etc), anyways, I wil say one thing I love about being Canadian, is I don't have to listen to all the slave and prejudice comments from that era.

One thing I have to say that i HATE, is when, say example, a black guy, has a white buddy who hes been tight with his whole life, and that white guy uses the N word around him and it's cool. But if another white dude (say me) is singing a SONG and the lyrics and I blurt out the word, he looks at me like I have aggression in my voice when I say it.

It should go all ways. I dont care if he is your best friend in life, he has no more reason to drop the N word.

i dont think people for the most part even know WHY they are mad at the other race ... they just think they are supposed to be.

like for instance, i preach this shit constantly. i try my best to change lazy thinking with my friends, relatives, etc then i can go somewhere and have a black dude call me a cracker... lol ... i feel like saying 'dude, you realize i'm not a racist prick like you probably think i am' then i realize, he's just a racist prick and it has nothing to do with what he thinks of me as a person, just what he has been taught to think about my skin color.
