Strategy Points

Post by walker213 »

Just a question before I get my season rolling. If I play a game and get strategy points for using one like aggressive blocking or whatever it is that gets you points, will I get docked in coaching reports? I guess what I'm asking is there a straight up rule for it? I know to use it in moderation, but what if you use it in moderation and are just successful with it therefore getting you a lot of strategy points? Like if you have go for the interception on aggressive and you get a pick, it gets you 15 points for strategy. If you are successful twice that's 30 points right off the bat. So I guess I just wanted to hear from the league what would be the smart thing to do regarding strategy. Thanks

I'd dock you. Thats just me. You and about 15 other guys in the league dont need to use this garbage EVER!! You guys are good enough to win without it. Im average at teh game and I'll never use it. I'm not using something that gives such an obvious advantage

I don't really see how it gives you such a HUGE advantage going for interceptions or attempting to strip the ball. I say to avoid bad coaching reports we either say you can use it or not. That way people can avoid being persecuted lol.

If it doesnt give you and advantage, then why are you using it?

scenario - you're down late, need the ball back, so you turn strip on agressive. then you magically get one. Turning it on wasnt trying to gain an advantage?

 I'm sorry, I just want to know what's the best thing to do. And I guess I've come to a conclusion to not do it unless I'm playing an opponent who is using it and is comfortable with it.

I don't use any of it other than maybe Key WR sometimes.

But I think the main question is, if used in moderation, what rule does it break?

It isn't an advantage because it goes both ways. Some people are just aggressive while others are not. Jumping the snap, big run, etc. are very cheap. But I'm talking about ones like aggressive blocking or pass defense. Those can result in loads of penalties or getting toasted on passes. It's not like it just magically works ever time and doesn't result in anything bad.

I'm not referring to those features, like play run/pass. I mean the pre-snap things like aggressive blocking or aggressive option, etc.

My bad AJ, just trying to clear it up. I see the smart thing to do is go with it off. I appreciate your fast input!

+1

I dont use ANY of those features and if they are used against me, expect to be docked. Sorry

No need for it at all if 2 opponents are playing straight and playing the way the game should be played.

AJ, you forgot to lock so I snuck it in to bump for you. :D

Strategy Points

Post by Dolemitesooner »

I am not trying to instigate anything, but once again we have multiple commishes in a thread saying they will dock people if thye use these stategy setting.

If people are going to be dock why is it not against the rules. This makes no sense in my mind.

If I am a mayor of a town I can't go around taxing people with out some law. Docking points is essentaily a tax, and we need final word on this stuff.

I see 2 confernce commishes and Aj who runs the league saying they will dock you. Why are the rules not being fixed so there is no longer any question about it.

I have been using guess the pass because others use it against me so it becomes second nature to guess.

Can we get a decision on something here instead of the continued back away and lock a thread because we don't wanna talk about something.

This vagness on the issue is very confussing. Either is legal or its not. If you docking people points you cant really use the owrds moderation anymore.

Not dragging this on Dolie, but to elaborate on my answer is like I said.

There is no room at all in this game to use those gimmicks IN MY OPINION.

I can see your point if they are possibly using it against you, but I NEVER use them and tell me one good reason why to use them other than to take advantage of an EA gimmick that isnt needed?

Also people dock points for what they think is needed. Some people got docked for hiking to fast, some get docked for passing to much, some get docked for wearing alternate uniforms.

Are these good reasons to dock anyone? It is your personal reason why you are docking someone. It takes ALOT for me to dock anything when playing someone, but the use of these gimmicky features is a definite for me. Plain and simple

I posted a lengthy response in the other thread before it got locked so here is the truncated version.

In my opinion, you will get scored based on expectations. I get exceptional reports despite really, really pushing the envelope. I think that is because when people play me, they expect to have a looser game. I'll assume people also have a little more leeway with their own games against me. I also use Buffalo, a C- team.

So, I will always "get the calls" more than a better player with a better team. I also am not apt to complain about anyone else.

And seeing Nasty's post, I can definitely see a huge drop in my score this season! :) I use them all and I change them every play (leading to people screaming at me for taking forever to snap the ball).

By the way, for the people who are confused, shouldn't you have a chat with your opponents before the game? See how they like to play. I use to send out a PM to my whole schedule telling them how I play and that all I expect them to do is not mail it in if they get up big. (I get my ass kicked a lot, so it is important for me to let my opponent know you can still have fun when up by 24, etc.)

Two people last season had a problem with it. However, in both of those games, 50+ plays were run. I am not the most efficient player, so the clock is stopped quite often.
