Ohio State basketball fans...........

Ivan Turner was taken to OSU medical center after landing on his back early in the game vs EMU today. News not good.

Turner out 8 weeks with fractured vertebra
Star guard Evan Turner is expected to miss the next eight weeks after suffering a transverse process fracture on his second and third lumbar vertebra, Ohio State athletic trainer Vince O'Brien said in a statement released by the athletic department this afternoon.

Turner was injured during the first half of the Buckeyes' 111-60 victory over Eastern Michigan in Value City Arena after being fouled on a missed dunk shot.He apparently lost his grip on the rim as he swung his legs under the basket and fell flat on his back from about 7 feet in the air. He was unable to break his fall with his hands.

He was taken to Ohio State University Medical Center for tests. X-rays were negative, but further scans apparently turned up the fracture.

An eight-week recovery time would ill sideline Turner until early February and could significantly damage the Buckeyes' NCAA Tournament hopes.

Ironically, the broken foot that sidelined David Lighty last season occurred in the season's seventh game. Turner's injury occurred in the eighth.


This is bad news for the Ohio State basketball team.

i m just glad he is doing well. But for the Basketball team, although they have alot of talent, we will struggle without Turner.

Damn, Lighty being out killed OSU last year, this is worse, much worse. Glad he's ok, could have been worse.

Perhaps now there is a good chance that Turner will return for his senior season! A small silver lining perhaps.

I was watching the game when it happened. As soon as I saw his feet go flying forward I knew he was in trouble. Then when they showed him slowly limping/walking back to the locker room, I knew it had to be something bad. Hopefully he can fully recover and come back and play like he was. It was sad since he was putting up crazy numbers.
