Re: Cnasty, Brocam, Holmey, Peay, Shel Dnload Group
Some good news for me. YLOD #1 happened back in April. I found the place in Michigan and shipped it off. After the repair, it fired right back up and was returned and worked great for 89 days. I then had YLOD#2. Luckily it was within the 90 day warranty, so it went back to the shop. After repair #2 it fired up again and worked great for 48hours and then came YLOD #3. The repair shop said they could do one more test/repair and see if they could get it back up.
At this point I figured even if they get it back up, this particular unit's days are numbered so I picked up an 80gb. I did a full backup of the 60gb before it died, so I had everything on the hardrive (minus the copyright protected data). Only thing to do was to go in and get the DLC.
The problem was it was still counting the old machine as one of the 5 slots and wouldn't let me get anything. So I crossed my fingers hoping they could at least get it up long enough to deactivate the system. I then got the dreaded call last week that they weren't able to get it back up. CRAP! Needless to say my desire to play RB wasn't that high.
So last night the box with the dead PS3 was on the porch when I got home. I got it out and gave it one more shot just to confirm it was in fact a goner. I didn't even bother with video cables and plugged in the AC cord directly to the wall. No surprise, the power light goes green and then immediately goes yellow and then blinking red. CRAP X2! Oh well, it was worth a try. So I hit the power button to return it to standby mode and hit it another time. And wouldn't you know it, it fires up this time. OH MYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY! I can't believe it. I might actually have a chance here. I start running through the house looking my old AV cables. I hook up the PS3 to the TV and go to sign in to the PSN. I thinking I am home free.
Uh-oh! System update required. CRAP X10!
So I start downloading the update with my toes&fingers crossed now hoping that this thing stays on long enough to complete the update so I can log in and click deactivate.
Well 15minutes later the update is complete and installed and I log on and deactivate the account. WOOHOOOOOO!!! I was so relieved. I was sweating it this whole time. The 'jet engine fan' was blowing full blast while the update was downloading and I just knew it was going to cut off when it got to 99% with my luck.
Now comes the fun part...having to restart my RB career.

Im so immature. After reading this part I laughed the rest of the post and had no idea what was said.brocam wrote:get it up long enough

Ill reset the password tonight and PM everyone for reference. Good to see you back Brocam! Only a matter of time until mine dies as well.
I guess only downfall of doing it this way since we cant back up the songs anyways.
Re: Cnasty, Brocam, Holmey, Peay, Shel Dnload Group
Not to barge in on your group's thread, but you can back up your songs and hard drive to an external hard drive that is fat32 formatted. That's how I transferred them from my original 20 gb hard drive to my upgraded one. It worked pretty easy.Cnasty wrote:brocam wrote: I guess only downfall of doing it this way since we cant back up the songs anyways.

I thought Brocam said you cant back up copyrighted things? Like my old group, I wasnt downloading them so how can those be backed up?ICE wrote:It worked pretty easy.
Like can I just put them on a thumb drive or something?
Re: Cnasty, Brocam, Holmey, Peay, Shel Dnload Group
i wish i had the same problem. if you keep the original system and just upgrade the hardrive you are in the clear. unfortunately for me my system was toast so i replaced the system. so rb game data and songs don't transfer over.ICE wrote:Not to barge in on your group's thread, but you can back up your songs and hard drive to an external hard drive that is fat32 formatted. think about it...if you could actually back up your songs there would be no limit on how many people you could share you DLC with. you could give your external drive to your neighbor and they could restore your backup and have all your songs.
at least the songs i can get those back with the deactivation. my game data/rb career are gone forever. along with my band name.

So I can get a thumb drive and do this or something?
Not sure I want to get an external hard drive just for this unless they are cheap?
Its like Russian Roulette. I dont want to spend the cash for something like this, but I know if I lose all my songs RB will be dead to me forever.

So I think I caught up for now.
I downloaded:
So Cold-Breaking Benjamin
The Diary of Jane-Breaking Benjamin
Would-Alice in Chains
Rooster-Alice in Chains
No Excuses-Alice in Chains
Guerilla Radio-Rage
And She Was-Talking Heads
Kryptonite-3 Doors Down
Bat Country-Avenged Sevenfold
We have 11.34 left after these.
If I missed something, let me know.

So are we still in business or what? If we need to re-up on PSN cards I can probably do that this weekend. What's the status on this week's DLC?
Here's the DLC for next week. I vote yes on the White Stripes pack and no on everything else.
