By some surprise miracle, Owen McCown was able to keep his number of interceptions under 3 for the game, but the UTSA roadrunners fell to the UNT Mean Green Thursday night at home 28-9.
Both teams seemed off to an even start until the turnover bug hit the Runners early in the second quarter. One punt return TD and one pick return TD later, the Runners found themselves down 28-3 at the half and was never able to muster an offense after that.
A rather uneventful first half saw a score of 7-3 in favor of UNT as they forced a punt with 2:09 remaining till half. From this point things took a turn. The ensuing punt only went about 30 yards, and Landon Sides caught it on the move, and with a hard cut to the right and he was gone for a 53 yard touchdown. Less than one minute later, a 3rd down pass was tipped and LB Jace Ruder took it out of the air and into the endzone for a 21-3 Mean Green advantage. Just a few seconds later the UNT defense made another play as DT Roderick Brown and DE Victor Hernandez collapsed the pocket and forced a fumble. This would result in a Morris to Ward touchdown in the closing seconds of the half, and pretty much put the game on ice.
