Thanks for the reference homie!! Last week I received my 1st generation Ps3 and it runs like a dream.

I was able to recoop all my game saves before transferring them over to my new Ps3. I believe going forward I'll be using the new Ps3 for all my gaming purposes while I put the other Ps3 in the living room as a dedicated Blu Ray // Media // Netflix player.

Any indication of how long these fixes tend to last?

I did the repairs myself a few weeks back but I'm not anticipating more than 6 months before the problem resurfaces.

Mine crapped the bed for the second time around 3-4 months.

my buddy did his own fix kinda like dak above. it last about 2 months longer.......

I still have the suitcase, its just a matter of time.

I just got the one I bought from Corey fixed here in Minneapolis from a place called gophermods.com. They have a 24 hr turnaround from the time they receive it. YLOD cost 75.00 and the fix has a 6 month warranty. So if it happens again in 6 mos its free. You pay to ship it they send it back at their cost. Its a good deal especially with the warranty. Just thought I would share the info.

The one you have was fixed at a local place for free because they wanted to "practice" so they can see if it was a business possibility going forward.

I guess they didn't practice hard enough on that one but I really just blame shel since he borrowed it and anything he touches technological goes to shit.
