For the knockout stage, I'm going to play the games scheduled to play each day which won't be anywhere near the real matches. I'll do my best with starting lineups and will flip a coin to pick teams. I will also be tracking yellow and red cards.

Today's Games:

Brazil 1 vs. Netherlands 0

Brazil advances thanks to a Hulk goal in the 4th minute. Netherlands rang the post and crossbar once each as they were very close to scoring.

Greece 1 vs. England 0

Despite missing 2 PKs by Samaras (one save, one off the post), Greece advances to face Brazil in the Quarterfinals. Salpingidis tallied his 3rd goal of the tournament for the Greeks.

Decided to play ahead since none of the teams playing tomorrow in real life are the same as I have going.

Spain 1, Croatia 2

Croatia's Mandzukic tallies for the 6th time in the tourney, the most of anyone, and Perisic adds another to put Croatia up 2-0. David Silva's PK edges Spain back, but they run out of time as Croatia advances.

Yellow Card: David Silva (Spain)

Italy 1, Ivory Coast 0

Cassano scores in the 120th minute to put Italy through in miraculous style. Both teams had very good chances, but both goalies came up huge.

Today's Games:

France 1(1), Bosnia-Herzegovina 1(3)

0-0 after 90, 2 goal five minutes apart in overtime send the game into PKs. France puts 2 PKs off the cross bar which does them in as B-H advances to the quarters

Belgium 3, Portugal 2

Belgium goes ahead 2-0 just to see Portugal claw back to tie it with 30 minutes to play. Mertens nets one from 20 yards out to put Belgium through.

Today's Games:

Argentina 3(4), Ecuador 3(2)

In the game of the tournament so far, Argentina advances, but needs PKs to do so. Caicedo put Ecuador on his back tallying the hat trick, but Messi's tying goal in the 116th minute put the game into PKs.

Russia 1, Germany 4

Germany cruises as Muller scores twice to put Germany into the quarterfinals.

4 of the final 8 here are the same as the real World Cup. Argentina and Brazil are in the same exact spots.

Today's Games:

Bosnia-Herzegovina 0 vs. Belgium 2

Mertens and De Bruyne both score late in the first half as Belgium cruises and is the first team in the final four.

Brazil 0 vs. Greece 1

The Greeks stun Brazil. Lazaros capitalizes off a Brazil miscue and nets the game winner in the 80th minute setting up an unlikely semi final match against Belgium.

Playing ahead as I won't be around tomorrow.

Croatia 4 vs Italy 1

Croatia rolls Italy in a completely 1 sided affair. Mandzukic scores his tourney leading 7th goal and Srna adds 2 of his own. Croatia had 14 shots in the game, 13 on net.

Argentina 1 vs. Germany 0

Higuain's 90th minute goal puts Argentina through to the semis to face Croatia.

Today's Game:

Greece 2(4) vs. Belgium 2(5)

Fellaini and Samaras each score twice ane PKs are needed to decide this one. The improbable Greek run ends here as Belgium advances to face either Argentina or Croatia in the Downing World Cup Finals.

Today's Game: (Sorry Dave)

Croatia 1 vs. Argentina 2

Knotted at 1 through 90 minutes, an additional 30 was need to decide this one. Lavezzi's 119th minute goal put Argentina through. Mandzukic netted his tourney leading 8th goal all but assuring himself of the Golden Boot.

Argentina vs. Belgium for the Downing World Cup!!

No 7-1 scores?

So unrealistic. ;)

Funny you should mention that.

Third Place Match:

Croatia 5 vs. Greece 1

Mandzukic gets his 9th, Srna, Olic, Rakitic and Perisic also score in this blowout.

Not quite 7-1, but close enough.....

World Cup Final:

Belgium 4 vs. Argentina 0

A very anti-climactic final as Belgium rolls. De Bruyne scores twice, Hazard and Mirallas once each.

Golden Boot:
Mandzukic (Croatia) 9
Messi (Argentina) 5
De Bruyne (Belgium) 5

That's it, had a blast playing all 64 games, might do it again if I have the time.
