It isn't a county tour. It is your country clubs tournament and they do use handicaps in those.

Then quit. Nobody's making you play.

Ok. Still, those are real life people swinging an actual golf club, not pulling a stick straight back and pushing it straight forward, with digital golfers with similar, if not the same, abilities. If one guy is better than everyone, he should win. Also, apparently no one has noticed, but we have even more ridiculous scores now than before.OracleHCR wrote:It isn't a county tour. I semi agree with what AU is saying, but I back Downing 100% in how he has made this golf league fun for all. And really thats what its all about.autiger730 wrote:Ok. I still don't see why we don't just lower the difficulty and give people a REAL chance to win, instead of having manufacture their chance to win. If guys have to get to -18 a round to have a chance to win, let them have the control to ACTUALLY shoot that, not shoot -6 and get 12 strokes taken off.buckeye76 wrote:I semi agree with what AU is saying, but I back Downing 100% in how he has made this golf league fun for all. Exactly. Maybe we can slice the handicaps in half or something as guys get better, but it allows guys near the bottom to compete. The more guys feel they can compete, the more they play, the more people we have, etc.

If we lower the difficulty, the guys at the top will shoot -20 every round and the guys at the bottom will shoot -10. And then we have people shooting -70 or better for a tournament. How does that fix anything?

Re: NDL Handicap Index
The fact that people are getting better now, should reflect in their scores. After good scores start getting put up, that will reflect in their index and it should even out.
The whole reason I put this in was to give everyone a chance to win each week. I didn't get any objections when I started it, but if we want to ditch it for Season 3, that is fine with me. i just thought more people would stick with it if everyone had a chance to win.

Re: NDL Handicap Index
Some people just love to complain about everything.
You are doing an awesome job keeping interest upwith the sseason and Ryder Cup.
Easily the most successful and fun tiger league we have had.
We've said it before, it isn't about one person but about making the league a way to keep 15-20 guys interested and active and you've done that.

Does this mean that those asking for the handicap were complaining when they did so?Cnasty wrote:Some people just love to complain about everything.

Re: NDL Handicap Index
I never asked.
Downing was asking for suggestions for any tweaks or enhancements for the league from where we began.
I offered an idea, never said we need to or asked for it.
But keep reaching at that, you are getting closer though.
And what do you care? You quit the league anyways.
Not to mention, not one person complained when he implemented it.
And since you love research and bringing up quotes from in the past here are some key ones from when Downing was asking for ideas and I mentioned it, not demanded or complained for it:

Suggesting handicaps, good.
Suggesting no handicaps, complaining.
Thanks for the research.
