I believe he was commish while doing it, but anyone could do it (I tried it, found some Ivory Coast kid once but didn't sign him). I have no idea if being a commish made it easier or if it was just something done by brute force.shel311 wrote:I have no dog in this fight as even after your explanation, I have no clue what was going on.Uuaww wrote:FWIW once he was told to stop doing it, he did. It was necessarily cheating as it was exploiting a loophole.
That being said, was Trendon the commish when he was doing this? Or did he have some sort of commish access(once Bear took over) and was doing something either none of us could do or he had some sort of access that made it easier for him to do so?

Re: Official 2039 Hall of Fame Ballot
What was happening is rarely the game would put a random 16-18 year old foreign kid into FA. Myself, Reign, Nick, and others would have a filter of FA to specifically search for that sort of thing. These kids would always be 20/20 but were prone to insane ratings swings after scouting reports. 'No Trump' Esparza was one of them. The ratings would fluctuate wildly for a season or 2 before settling down.
What was happening is guys like me were checking this every sim. It was always the first thing I would do after a sim. You could offer more than a minor league contract but it was dumb b/c they would run out of options when they were 19 and no where near major league ready. This was an issue so you just offered minor league and hoped for the best. Well Trendon would be signing guys who were these IFAs but we never saw them in the FA pool. After sims I KNOW I checked and others did too, he would have a signed someone. Well someone confronted him and he eventually said what he was doing. The commish at the time asked him to stop and he did and that was the end.

Why was Trendon able to see guys others weren't?Uuaww wrote:Well Trendon would be signing guys who were these IFAs but we never saw them in the FA pool.
Re: Official 2039 Hall of Fame Ballot
he was going into history, the players tab and searching for players there. these weren't players that were meant to be signed. it was a backdoor way to access guys.shel311 wrote:Why was Trendon able to see guys others weren't?Uuaww wrote:Well Trendon would be signing guys who were these IFAs but we never saw them in the FA pool.

Thats right that is what i was talking about.
Kudos to him for stopping.
And if everyone else could do it then it was not necessarily cheating, but he was doing something that he shouldn't have been doing.

Re: Official 2039 Hall of Fame Ballot
I like trendon, but I'm not sugar-coating this... what he was doing was cheating imo, because it was taking place outside of the fundamental design of how the game was meant to be played. It was an exploit of the system. The guys that were looking for internationals in the free agent market every day where using a tool provided as part of normal functionality. There was a clear difference between the 2.

Going to throw up 24-hr last call for votes. PM's were sent earlier today, and only 2 nominees' fates are in limbo as of now... Results announced tomorrow night.
