PLay the Pass-Run and Season Showdown?????

Am I missing something, all i do is turn gm on and play. What do you look for and what buttons do it. Is it on automatically or do you have to turn it on in your profile. I would prefer not play with any of this nonsense and dont want to get abused by it either. Someone help me out here as far as seeing if someone is using it or not.

Alright bro...Im glad you posted because I was about too something has to be said about this...THIS is a definate problem in the league this year....

Simply put..u go under season showdown and pick your favorite team to represent..you represent them no matter what team you actually play with...

That being said...The league needs to revise the rule so that you have to have it ON. I for one think that play the pass is a neccessary evil..I dont like playing games where you go 30-33 through the air and lose..which has happend to me multiple times as well as others..If you have to score on every possession this league has become Arena football not college football.. Passing stats are becoming overinflated and its because of a reluctance to use play the pass..

Right now there are 53 qbs with pass rating over 100 and bigdyke will user catching also has one of nearly 300 is this realistic at all? HELL NO Highest one is 171 in real life right now, 4 guys IRL are over 160 we have 18..

That being said..you should not be able to turn off season showdown and play the pass everyplay either...WHEN you use play the pass and HOW MUCH you use play the pass is critical in evaluating your opponent. If SS is turned off this goes out the window... I could care less about all the other stuff like jump snap etc..but being able to see when someone plays the pass is crucial...

I don't really care if someone has it on but do not dock me if I use the play pass strategy when I know you are passing 85% of the time. My secondary is weak anyway so it doesn't even help me most of the time. I also would like to say if you are up 3 scores late in the 4th, is it really necessary to keep using it? Play defense without the "extra" boost if up big, regardless if I pass or not.

I second that bro...learn to run and mix it up...At least then you are honest and can see and show people what your are doing and not hiding it...this is my point entirely

I use key receiver (L2 + receiver icon) if there is an impact receiver, if there is an interception, it shows as play the pass. If you have an impact receiver plus you pass the ball 30 to 40 times a game, I will use both. I agree with Steamroller about being a necessary evil. Do I wish there was more risk to reward in a lot of these new features? yes...Do I also think these new features balance the playing field? yes.. And yes, I may be a minority, but I like the adding new features, just need a little tweeking of how they play out IMO

all in all, I think it goes back to the basic concept that the admins have preached in almost every thread of this type...moderation.

hell yea..nasty, im not trying to say you have to run or pass...just saying dont complain about someone playing the pass if you pass a lot...its a neccessary evil...Im sick of having 2-3 incompletes all game myself..much less having it go that way against me..Ive had two of the best rated defenses in the game this year and play the pass is a neccessary evil IMO..but it can be abused, no doubt

I don't understand that reasoning. And I don't get why this stuff ALWAYS keeps coming up. The things that are "super chicken-shit" have been banned. The rest is ok (or it would have been banned), as stated over and over and over again...with moderation. I guess I'm used to playing with sub par teams on here and play the pass just doesn't seem to have that big of an effect. Like I said in a different thread, the offenses have the advantage...there are a shit load of problems with defenses....why is it such a big problem to use something that helps the defense some? My D sucks anyway, but when I pick play the pass...and they run, I get killed. So I don't see where it helps to stop the run game. If I'm throwing for 300+ yards and running for 50....I expect to see the defense use the play the pass feature some.

We cant and wont ban everything. There are certain things on this game that are not banned but should be used in moderation. MODERATION. Dont rely on the same ol offensive plays, dont rely on the same ol defensive plays, dont rely on Big Run, Big Hit, Play the pass etc... All game long. 3rd and 15, play the pass acceptable. Using it the majority of the game, not acceptable. Big run on a 3rd and 1, acceptable ( personal feeling aside mind you cause I hate it), Big Run on for the first 3 drives, not. Of course these are JMO, but I bases this off of the simple thing we have stated 900 times. MODERATION.

Let me be clear-

I was referring to the "Play the Pass" feature. Use it all you want, I don't and won't- the people I play alot of the time (Hoos, Sxfeet, Big Stimpin'...I have NEVER seen them use it) and I will stop whatever I am doing to play a game with those guys.

I, just like everyone in the league has played guys that use the shit out of the "Play the Pass" feature; but make no mistake, I do not believe that the use of that feature was the reason I win/lose games.

Bottom line for me, if there is a portion of the ownership that has an issue with someone not having the "Season Showdown" feature enabled, then perhaps an addendum to the rules should be drafted. That would eliminate any questions coming up.

With how easy passing is play the pass is a good feature. Now, in a perfect well designed game this feature would not be needed. But, obvioulsy the developers at EA looked at how easy the passing game, thought shit here we go again, let's try this feature. Its another one of those gimmicks/strategy features that EA rolls out. Id say its 50/50 whether its back next season. But realistically it makes sense. If you are in a passing down or playing a predominantly passing team then on defense you have to be thinking/looking for the pass. Add in that the pass rush is difficult to get (at least for me) and its a good feature in moderation.

Also, I had no clue that you can key on a receiver.

I used guess pass alot when the game 1st came out,since then Ive really toned it down. Probably use it around 3-5 times a game.

I have no idea what season show down is and i have no clue what Play the pass/run is either? Can someone im and let me know because i am like giver... i just boot my ps3 up and then play lol i dont even know how to jump a snap or anything... I just want to know so I can see if someone is doing it.
