anyone ever use this...my ps3 quit reading disc but I found out that I actually bought the 2-year replacement plan through best buy. Can I just box up the ps3 and take it in for a replacement?
Do I need to take in my controller too?
What about the size of the GBs..I have an 80 which they don't make anymore..will I have to settle for less?
Thanks..just have no clue on this stuff...trying to call the store but no one is answering the phone.

I'm not sure bout the harddrive issue and what they'd replace you for. But I got mine at Target and had a replacement plan and I had to give them everything. Controller, system, and game from bundle if it is a bundle.

thanks..I don't have the game anymore (it was a bundle)...you think that'll kill it? It's not like they are going to replace the game, they don't even have the bundle available anymore.

Yeah it probably won't be an issue since they don't even have the bundle.

Those are the available systems on playstations website. I didn't think they still had 80GBs but it says they do. If they do I'm guessing they'll give you that.

Tell them you gave Penn State their only loss this season and they may consider just giving you a new slim PS3!

Brilliant!

I'll come back and laugh all this off if things go well at Best Buy...for now...

I've done this with my old 360 that RRoD'd.
Box up everything, bring it in with the paperwork, and you either get the credit or a replacement. If they have one that is cheaper than what you paid, you also get the difference.
So since you probably paid at least $400 I believe you should be able to get the $300 slim and $100 worth of other stuff if you want.
For my return I returned an old regular 360 that died and got the Elite for the same price (since it was about 20 months from the original date of purchase and the Elite was the same price as the original system).
Good luck!
If they give you an issue about not having the game I'd seriously consider going and buying it used at Gamestop if it will mean they'll take it back and you get your full replacement value.

I think Best Buy you have to send it in through the mail. I had bought the plan with a wireless controller back in the PS2 days and had to send mine in though the mail after getting all the paperwork through the mail.

I'd just wanted to say that CNasty, UCWeiser, BFIVL, and Baker comebacks were way better than yours...and they deserve the award for best PSU/RU joke at my expense.
ON THAT NOTE ...NOT ONLY DID I GET A BRAND-SPANKING NEW SLIM PS3....UPGRADED TO 120GB...I GOT A NEW 2-YEAR WARRANTY, PLUS $170 GIFT CARD FOR THE REMAINING BALANCE TO SPEND AT MY WILL AT BEST BUY! THANK GOD FOR THE DROP IN PRICE A COUPLE WEEKS AGO...THEY HELD UP MY $550 DOLLAR PURCHASE FROM 6/12/08...GOING TO SET UP MY NEW PS3 NOW...
by the way, the guy behind the counter didn't care either if I had beaten PSU...so screw it, no more bragging

Awesome. As much as people say these extended protection plans from Best Buy are a waste, it is good to see they really work with little to no hassle when you need them to.

This actually proves we should ALL get best buy protection plans. Here is what we know, game systems die, game systems drop in price. If you buy at launch, and your ps3 dies down the road, you will get the difference, which can be as much as nearly $200. And if your system doesn't die, well then you get the joy of not having sony/microsoft sucking hard.
