Yep, my PS3 suddenly died before my Cup game with FSUPenguin at approximately 9:29pm (Pacific Time Zone). Cause of death is unknown, as there were no yellow lights. You can log on and see your friend's list, but it does not read any Blu Rays or games. He leaves behind an owner with a family who is enjoying the free time now with dad.........cue: King of Queens moment!

if it turns on, maybe theres dust inside that the laser cannot read?

Do you get code 80010514 if so you have the disc read error.

What can I do about it Nick? Open it up and clean it like the PS2 old days?

Just a black screen when you hit the game. It shows the game or Blu Ray movie, but freezes up to a black screen when you pick the game. And if it bypasses into the game, when you hit the start button to check your messages, it freezes.

Shit.......I am just pissed of the timing. Exactly right before my Cup game, it decides to not read the disc. And if it did, it freezes when you check your messages with the swirl(s) continuing without any progress.

Damn Rain, i gotta get out to vegas! sucks to hear about your ps3. me and outlaw were getting ready to play our OD game this afternoon and he suddenly signs off. He hits me up on aim and says his ps3 "wont read the disc!" Hopefully you both can get to the bottom of this.

You know I happen to remember a couple of members bashing the Xbox because it had its failure issues. Well it appears that it is not the only system that has them now is it? HMMMM

I am just saying all these failing Ps3's really proves that people that said the X-box was worse for the red ring of death were really ignorant.

Both systems seem to last about 2 years, and then boom.

I really don't know how that is stirring the shit, but rather proving a point.

LOL, I took it to a Game Repair Shop (I know the owner), who took a look at it today and said that he has never seen my problem with the PS3 before. He had about twenty PS3s he is working on now at his shop, and said that it could be the motherboard in my PS3. Not good. Freaking unbelievable..........he told me it was not my laser eye, that it is something else after opening it up and testing it out...............when it rains.....it pours!

YLOD is not in the same ball park as the RROD, that shit cost Microsoft over a billion. Shit tears up, its no fun, but XBOX is still a shit box.

It cost Microsoft 1 billion and they still have made money on hardware.

Sony not so much. Sony will never make money on the ps3 hardware.

I have had an Xbox just as long it as never broke down. Don't make statements when you know nothing about the subject. I don't think you even own an Xbox. Its like a virgin telling me how to get laid
