1st "OFFICIAL" NDL Online Dynasty - ...

Post by RanDawg »

Okay, I know it is early, but I wanted to go ahead and start the process now (as far as looking ahead to OD in NCAA 10).

1 - Who plans on coming back? (I will talk with Terps (WVU) and CLW (PSU)).

- RanDawg
- jmkeep
- fsupenguin
- VTrunNgun
- LytezOut
- Talented
- Downing
- runthepound
- TerpsMustDie

- WAITING LIST -
- BigStimpin
- steelcitychaos
- Champdizzle
- buckeye

2 - What teams will everyone want to run with? same? different?

3 - How should we handle the "custom conference" feature? Should we allow PSU to move to the Pac 10 and Boise State move to the SEC (just throwing out odd ball examples)? Or should we keep it regional (Rumor has it that you can only use this feature when originially starting the OD)?

4 - What difficulty do you guys want to start on? AA for season 1 judge from there like we did this past year?

5 - "IF" EA allows us to roll the current OD over to NCAA 10 OD (like they are smart enough to think of this), would you guys want to do that? Or create a new one?

6 - Rules? Do you guys feel that the rules that I set were ok? Should I apply rules to the CPU games to save the integrity of the award winners? I know I do not have a hard rule in place on "restarting" games, as I handle them on a per-basis (and we really did a great job of not having alot of restarts, thanks guys).

7 - Any other questions, concerns, or comments you might have.

i think your tcu team and notre dame should move into the closest BCS conference and that will put everyone on an equal playing field. if the cpu wants to move teams into different conferences than i would also be in favor of that. i think it will provide each player with more opportunities for head-to-head games and will not punish a team for not playing a bcs schedule

the custom feature i think you allow teams to move if it is initiated by the cpu

i think the rules that are in place now work well

starting difficult on aa for the 1st season is fair and adjust from there

if you cannot roll 2009 into 2010 game i may switch teams

I will come back.
I would love to keep my boys.
I don't mind conference changes, but yes it should be regional only.
AA to start sounds good to me.
I love the idea of rolling it over, but I'd be ok with either.
We need something, like if you break 50 against cpu the second string must come in on offense and defense.

You can count me in for the NCAA 10 OD. I'm not positive I will stay at Virginia Tech though. I'd likely opt to 'Middle of the Road' program to build. I may call dibs on Baylor now 8-)

-Custom Conferences: I think this can be a very very slippery slope. IF we can only change conferences at the beginning of our dynasty, then we should analyze moves on a Case by Case basis. i.e. a Notre Dame moving into the Big Ten, or Louisville to the SEC to name a few.

But IF thats not the case and we can change conferences at the onset of any given season, then I think programs should earn their ways into other conferences. Like taking a mid major to a BCS conference.

Either way I wouldn't go crazy here. Moving USC to the SEC for shits and giggles isn't appealing to me. I don't want to lose the whole reason why there are conferences to begin with.

-Difficulty: I'm down for waiting to see how the game plays. Its a whole new ball game so I'd like to approach it with fresh eyes.

-Rules: I think overall we've been pretty good on how tight our ship is ran. We don't see a mass abundance of disconnects and cheesy complaints. But if I could make a suggestion, I'd like to see some sort of enforcement of 'Position Changes' during the off season.

I think this has flown under the radar but now that we're in our 4th season, just funny stats are popping up on certain programs rosters. 90+ speed QB's that can barely throw the ball, or Super quick TE's that have the physical build of a RB or WR? Free Safeties that have the best hands on the team? Gimme a break.

There is a difference between swapping someone to fill in gaps or maximize their strengths, but their is another thing when you do it to create distinct disadvantages that cripple the A.I. of the game.

If I can make a suggestion, I would say that the commissioner at the beginning of every season, save the Dynasty Offline. After doing that, open the boards as a forum to post any Positioning Player swaps that a coach would like to make and why. You don't have to give away your gameplans or whatever, but you could make it clear to 'everyone' your rationale. If it's a legit player swap then no one will be cry fowl I'm sure.

After we make all the changes and suggestions are weighed, the commissioner could then cross reference each team to make sure no one lied or made other illegal moves. I think this would be a great checks & balances system.

I think it would be WAY too time consuming to have to discuss and explain each and every player swap. If time was not an issue, then yes, that would be a great idea, but since we have 1 day for each offseason move, it would not be possible. Not to mention atleast 4 members do not have access to the boards.

The best way to work it would be to find a minimum stat at each position. But not just overall, but more so an attribute specific to that position (i.e. route running for WR, run/pass blocking for TE, etc.) We can get together to discuss this.

And I can take the OD offline at the end of recruiting and at the start of the first week to make sure players match up.

I don't know, I am just brain storming.

I'll be back. I would like to stay at UNC, if we can roll it over. If not I may roll with a different school.

I'll be back for sure with Nebraska. If we can roll it over, that would be perfect, but starting new is fine by me too. Rules are fine, difficulty of AA and then adjusting is fine.

Also, I think Fitz is out. I'll call him again tonight, but he hasn't be logged in for over 30 days, so I am not sure what his deal is. I'll get back to you on this.

I'm coming back as well...I wanna keep the Irish even if we can't roll it over.

the rules we have now are fine with me, but I agree on the AA difficulty at least for the first season.

And I would love to be in a BCS conference.

jmkeep said he would talk with him and find out. He thought fitz was busy with work. If he does drop, then I believe we have 1 on the waiting list as of now.

I am down for whatever....I may stay at Bama, but may look elsewhere once we see the team ratings and all. AA is good for me also, like we started out with. I like the rules, but like Pengy said, once you get up by a certain amount, you need to pull the starters. If not, it just becomes about padding the stats.

Okay, so rumor has it "Create-a-school" will be in the game. "IF" we can pull these teams into the OD, would you guys be interested?

I know I would. I would like to bring in the Southwest Texas State University Bobcats into the C-USA for a few seasons before moving to the Big 12.

Any other thoughts?

The create a school feature sounds cool, not sure what I would do if you guys ended wanting to go with that. I know I would want to run with my boys in some dynasty still if I couldn't in this one so I guess it would be ok as I could be Kennesaw State.

It is OFFICIAL gentlemen. You can use "create-a-school" in OD.

I am strongly thinking about turning this OD into a "create-a-school" OD where you HAVE to create a new team and go from there. Rumor has it you can edit current teams and change logos or totally create a brand spanking new team. We need to strongly look at this now so we know where we stand when the new game drops.

If you guys remember the good ol' days when you used to be able to create teams, you could pick "cupcake, middle of the road, powerhouse, etc . . ." well, it is something like that when you create a new school.

I will spit out more info as I get it.

I do think this is a cool thing to do, but it really would be sad to not keep this dynasty going if we can roll this one over into the next game.
