4 down, 46 to go

This is good news. Maybe, just maybe, stupid people are dwindling away -or- coming to their senses. Now, we just have 46 other states which need to pull their head out of their bigot asses.

I feel this is actually inevitable, and people that are objecting to it now will one day be looked at in the same way that we would look today at someone that objected to desegregation.

I agree though. My wifes twin is a lesbian and I see the pain she goes thru when it comes to medical insurance and what not, more states need to go ahead and pass this. This is about as taboo as interracial marriages a century ago, same sex unions will be legal in all states within 20 years.

Re: 4 down, 46 to go
people are people, but I believe marriage is between a man and a woman, just my opinion.

Never said marriage. Civil Unions are like marriage but not the same, more or less its a word play for the religious people out there against gay marriage because they believe marriage is binding under God.mcx79 wrote:people are people, but I believe marriage is between a man and a woman, just my opinion.

Re: 4 down, 46 to go
i'm catholic and i believe in God but to think that i should have a say in how someone else lives their life (Assuming its not hurting someone else) is incredibly conceited to me. do whatever you want if it makes you happy.

Re: 4 down, 46 to go
for all those against it, answer me this, why should anyone care what you have to think? in all seriousness.
Re: 4 down, 46 to go
The answer to your convoluted question is because it is the vast majority of americans who are against it. That's only if you go by voting records and every poll that has been done. So for all of you who are for it, why should anyone care what you think about it?nick wrote:for all those against it, answer me this, why should anyone care what you have to think? in all seriousness.

Personally I am for civil unions. Partners should be extended all the rights of a married couple.

In all seriousness, if they dont care, then good for them. I realize my beliefs arent going to be agreed upon by everybody, but does that mean you should keep your beliefs to yourself? For all those for it, why should anybody care what you think? "Because if the majority believes in gay marriage than gays can get married, therefore gays care what we think"
For all those against it, why should anybody care what you think? "Because if the majority doesnt believe in gay marriage then gays cant get married, therefore those against it care what we think"
Your statement is kind of like Ricky Bobby's: "With all due respect, I didnt know you had experimental surgery to have your balls removed"
Just because you said "in all seriousness" doesnt mean that removes the condescension it contained. Everybody is entitled to their own beliefs. Do you have to agree with them? NO.

Re: 4 down, 46 to go
I understand civil unions being inevitable, but I cannot and do not support marriage for same sex couples. Let them have there insurance and whatnot, but lets not call it something it's not.
Re: 4 down, 46 to go
why can't gays get married? because it's against your religion? i think thats why right? The church is against it.
....
So then I guess athiest shouldn't get married. I guess people of different religious beliefs shouldn't get married.
Stupid.

Re: 4 down, 46 to go
Well idk what that process is...would they have a normal ceremony like we are used to? With a mass and everything? In all honesty I have no idea what that process is.
Re: 4 down, 46 to go
is it normal because you did it?

I've said that COUNTLESS times on this board, to the point where Dole started a whole thread just to thank me for that, LOL.
I understand if people are dont understand how people can be gay or whatever, but why would anyone be against this is beyond me for the exact reason you just said. Why should I have a say in what someone else does with there life that doesn't affect me???
Re: 4 down, 46 to go
None of this sanctions marriage by a church.
Why people confuse official marriage rights that come with a government issued license and marriage in a church is completely baffling to me.
Religion has nothing to do with government supported marriage rights.
And the word "marriage" cannot be own or controlled by any group of people. It is a word with a definition in a book. In this context it is a social and legal union.
Hopefully we won't now get into the nonsense of how "the Bible defines marriage as..." The Bible defines rules and laws for many things that are archaic and obviously not meant to be implemented in today's world.
