I'm just going to throw some topics I have on my Winter Meetings list here and keep adding over the season as I think of them or as you guys suggest them. This way people can have an idea of what's coming up and start thinking about and having some pre-discussion here.

I know some people were unhappy with the top 10. I have no concrete plans in mind but I would like the league to discuss on potential changes and I have a feeling at least one team will put forward a proposal on it.

Draft pick trading
Just adds a little more granularity when trying to deal. Would make 1st round picks off-limits and only the following year's picks available. I know the old adage is new guys will get wrecked but I've been in this league and seen everyone make unbalanced trades all the time. Unless the person is brand new to online leagues I don't think we'll have an issue. Plus it would also facilitate some really easy cash deals; instead of selling young specs you could sell picks if you have cash issues.

Realignment changes
We usually do it every 10 years. I know a lot of teams actually like the division they are in for lots of reasons. Was thinking maybe we could make it so only teams who WANT to move can express their desire to do so. Then we take all those teams and draft lotto them (with equal chance probably, maybe they get bonus chance for export history % or something). They then decide where they want to go in the open spots. This way teams can stay where they want and not have to worry about it. Only kicker is someone might want to go to AL East for example and maybe none of those teams offered to move. Still thinking about this one for sure.

Minor league schedule revamp and playoff extension
Firstly, AA is split into 2 leagues. Want to merge that into one league so they can have an allstar game and play against other teams. Would like to either create more divisions or have more wildcard teams. Just give more opportunities for young players to play in playoff games.

Would also like to sync up schedules with major league equivalents if possible so you can have minor league rivalries as well. Also revisit the number of games played and league start dates to be sure they line up ok. I've already made one change and that was turning off rainouts in all the minor leagues as rainouts are lame.

Minor league titles giving draft picks
A way to reward guys actually taking care of their minors and giving a shit about them. Thinking a supplemental draft pick in a round, not sure how high to go and whether to award higher rds for certain divisions (unlikely). But I don't want to clog up the end of the 1st, 2nd, or whatever rd with 5 extra supplemental picks. I DO want to reward guys who take care of their minors though. Of course I'm biased here as I'm one of the guys who watches their minors pretty heavily.

10/5 Rule
I am not a fan and I think there are others who feel that way. Will be creating a proposal to remove it.

What are you thinking on all of those topics for us to have some pre-discussions?

Initial thoughts on these:

1. I would love to see every team not in the playoffs thrown in the lotto and done like the NBA draft. And would make the next topic a little more interesting.

2. I'm on the fence here. I could be swayed with some stipulations, no more than 1 extra draft pick a round and no more than 3 years out for picks.

3. Love it. Will this happen yearly and once a team joins a new division will they be locked in for x amount of years?

4. Will SA and R ball start earlier? Can get behind this one.

5. Anything higher than a 5th round supplemental pick I'd lean no unless given some good reasons for higher picks.

6. Absolutely a NO for me.

Would love for SA and R ball to start when the other seasons start- gives some time for guys still in R ball to impress before you get new draftees- also just more development time overall

Ya one thing I forgot to mention was the draft picks could only be the next years. Makes tracking easier and keeps from team from kamakazing themselves by giving away all their picks for years to come.

SA could def be moved up. R ball has to start after the draft for 2 reasons. Some guys don't have a full R roster until the draft is complete. If the newly drafted players don't play it could affect their development. The only other option is to lengthen the schedule for those lower leagues and I have no clue how that would affect their dev (or if it does at all).

Not a fan of rewarding teams for minor league titles unless roster restrictions/limits are enforced (for example guys shouldn’t be able to roster a bunch of 27 year olds in rookie)

I like this and agree with you 100%

we need to have the rosters at each level not exceed the limit. we have multiple teams with 65 or more players in rookie league.

1. I am ok with the lotto idea. Either the current way or George's idea of every team not in the playoffs be thrown in. But I am a fan of the lotto as, I feel like, but I could be wrong, but I feel like it helps discourage tanking on purpose.

2. Another league I am in only allows this year or next years draft picks to be traded. So it doesn't get too crazy when we have to replace an owner.

3. For realignment, I agree with Ryan, just let the teams interested in moving reach out and see if it can be worked with just those teams or if it is something that would require a complete realignment.

4. I don't have a preference on the Minors schedules. You do what you feel is best here.

5. Not a fan of the draft picks for Minors, but that is my opinion.

6. This one I am on the fence about. I feel like the player should have the ability to deny a trade to a team he feels is shitty if he has 10 years of major league service time and spent the last 5 consecutive years with the same team.
But then I get the thoughts of, who really cares, these are digital players and I run my team, etc.
This one could go either way for me.

Just feels late to me. Fine either way, just want to confirm with league we are still ok with it.

I feel teams should run a net positive budget and not be in the red forever. Incentives never really caring about your budget etc.

Just want to confirm we still like it and the parameters it's setup at.

I have been an advocate in the past of this and I still am. I think 10y contracts are unhealthy for a league. 5y creates more turnover which means more trading less abuse of signing a young player to an entirely unrealistic contract.

NO POLL - Enforce 164 minors player limit
Starting next season I will be enforcing what's already in our rules. Being over will result in an AI Minors Re-org. This is not a hard thing to take care of as the game gives you a warning when you are over at any level.

I will be putting up a poll to change the current wording which is "you can be over at any level as long as the total number in the minors doesn't go over 164 (not including DL and INTL Complex)". I would like it to be not being over at any level.

This ties in with ideas of incentivizing teams to care about their minors etc.

I don't know why the forums wouldn't let me post all that in one post (kept giving errors) but anyway there are my thoughts.

I believe that's the limits in real life. There is no need for teams to have 65 rookie ball players and so on.

Initial thoughts on the topics:

Could care less on the trade deadline.

Not a fan of not allowing teams to take on salary if they are in the red. This is one way for a team to get prospects for the future, maybe have a limit of how much they can take on in debt....but that may be hard on you to police up.

I like the Revenue Sharing as it is. I don't believe it's broke so why fix it....sucks for Bowie though right now

Not a fan of the 5 years, I could get behind 8 as the max but still not sure I'd like that. If I got a guy with High Loyalty and Low Greed, why not try to get him to sign on for long term. And this has backfired on me multiple times with getting stuck with a bad contract. It's the price you pay when taking that chance.

'bout time we get to this. Not sure how the AI minors re-org will pan out though, could great players possibly get dropped because of this? Maybe give a fine at the beginning of the year, which I believe is what we did before, and then give 3 or 4 sims after the draft to get it in order and then a fine again if not.
