Boston Player Draft

I am going to put some things out there.
I have said in the past, sure I love winning and what I have built here over 10+ seasons but the success of the league is more important than that.
Winning 130+ games a year isn't realistic or even much fun for a consistent immersion factor for our league.
Some have said in the past, let it just play itself out. I am ok with that but we need to review some options and this is my first option I thought of.
Boston Player Draft, any players not named:
Todd
Munoz
Marino
Bri Bry
Hoffman
Can be drafted from the Boston organization. You want to go young, take a prospect. Want to win now? Take a MLB guy.
29 picks to possibly even out some talent in the league.
Worst record to best is the draft order.
The vote is simple....yes you think we should do this....no, you don't like the idea and we do the next.
Think of whats best for the league.

No! I do like the idea of Boston becoming more human and beatable but this isn't realistic (kinda like that roster )

what about a fantasy draft for the whole league. We can all protect some of our players and then the rest are available in a snake draft of some sort. We get to keep our history of the league and teams but possibly add some new interest? jsut an idea....

I am fine either way but here is my .02.
There is no denying immersion is lower than it has been in my 13 seasons. Trading is low and I can't even remember how many people have complained to me about Boston. 10 more seasons of 130 wins like this and I do worry about the future of the league from an immersion standpoint.
I am for it because I do think it's best for the league and would immediately result in much more immersion and guys feeling like they have a shot.
That being said I am in this thing until the very end and will always keep trying to win and am cool with whatever the league/Corey decide

I'd like to hear everyone(especially the good teams now) and their take on the reasons for lower immersion.
They're may be many reasons for lower immersion but is the Boston the unstoppable Boston train 1 of them? Are some of the good teams competing now losing faith or just not as immersed as they'd normally be as they know they built a good team for a 5 year run but also know they have very little shot at winning?
As another part of the discussion, let's assume(seems fair to do) Boston keeps this up and wins 6 of the next 8 titles or more or whatever. Does that change your stance or further your stance on the above?
I don't know the answer, just trying to get some discussion on how much of a factor it is into our current state of affairs.

If keeping the history of the league is paramount then "restart" with the players we have. If that is an actual way the owners of the league wants to go. But if that's the case I want to trade my GM

I can't speak for all with the low immersion but it is pretty naive to think Boston is not a huge part of it. I may be just caught up in the present but this has to be by far the fewest number of trade blocks in a season. I think 8-10 more seasons of 130 wins and 7-8 more titles and we could be in trouble. I am not talking about our core group of lifers who will always keep up and be active.
Yes it's not realistic but neither is what is going on. At the end of the day we have the power to fix it for the future of the league so I think we should try

The whole "restart" and now this snake draft idea makes me cringe and I would say probably a small hand full of others as well. I've put the time and effort into rebuilding my team and I'm now on the brink of that coming to fruition. Not even slightly interested in either of those ideas.
Not sure about the Boston draft. I see the logic to it. But not sure it really helps immersion all that much. He put the time and effort into building this monster, why shouldn't he get to reap the rewards of his actions. Also, those inactive are just that. Suddenly having a high blue player isn't going to change that in the least. Now you're giving a really good player/prospect to a guy we're still never going to hear from so they get to sit on that team and either rot or be a very unhappy lone superstar for the team.
On the other hand, humanizing the great Boston train...
Tough decision
I'll have to hold on to my vote for a bit.

That could also be another thing, the guys, for the most part, who will speak up and post the most here are going to be the lifers anyway.
The guys who it may affect the most, we may never hear from til it's too late.
Ain't that quite the conundrum.

We are not doing either of these while I am commish FWIW if that impacts anyone's vote.
I would like all votes to be completed by Saturday night as I think I will have the file ready by Sunday morning pending if Miami loses and how much I drink on Saturday.

In a perfect real world scenario, we all just deal with it.
But with what we have now, we need to figure out how much of an effect we're seeing on league interest, and mainly, how much of an effect it may have down the road if Boston just keeps on winning.
Again, just trying to get a discussion going. Not saying it will or even could happen, but just saying if 9 seasons from now and Boston wins 7 or 8 of em and the league is on the brink of folding because it's just lost its luster with part of the reason being unstoppable Boston...we should probably attempt to figure out if that's a potential issue or not. And if it is, deal with it sooner rather than when it's too late.
I haven't voted yet, as I just can't pull the trigger either way.

I agree with most of what Wasted said. I didn't mean those guys acquiring a top player will increase immersion. Some guys just won't ever be around much.
I mean for guys believing they can actually win and the immersion it creates with teams going for it, trade blocks, thinking they are a player away. Right now there is not a team that is 3 players away.

multiply that by 5 and I'll be there

I'm 1 player away from being 17 players away.

I haven't voted as well. My first initial reaction to this thread was NO! But listening to others I may sway my vote to yes.
But we'll see how much immersion we have when the vote is final on Saturday (and I'll vote prior to then). I venture to say the total vote tally will be 18 votes total. And this is a huge vote that affects everyone.
Say this does get approved. You give "x" hours to make your vote. What do you do when Richmond doesn't pick a player because he is never on the boards?

In full transparency I voted yes.
I think this is an excellent way to thin the talent in Boston without completely killing my interest unfairly as i get to keep the guys i have grown to love as Boston lifers and teams get to decide which direction they want to go with their pick which adds a level of strategy.
Unrealistic, absolutely but i think its a fair and very simple step in the right direction.

I voted yes as well. Like many, I thought NO at first. It's a solution to what may seem to think is creating an immersion problem.
Corey is cool with it, he will still have a very good to great team. Maybe Boston wins the division by 8 instead of 30.
For other teams it is a chance to acquire a very good player and build on it and have fun with it.
Yes, it is unrealistic but WTF, let's do it and move on.

My opinion as the "New Guy" here is to say that I honestly don't know how this will make a difference one way or another since I have only been a part of this league for a short period of time. There seems to be a strong effort in the direction of everyone voting yes at this point.
I feel like it is kind of crappy to have a guy break his team down just because he has been successful. However, you "lifers" all seem to agree that this would be the best for the league in the long run so that is also the direction I will go in as well.
