2048 Winter Meetings Topic #1

Now I can see this likely crashing and burning... But I would like to bring it up and see everyone's opinion.

Now I was thinking of raising the injury level. It isn't uncommon for teams to go most of the season without a major injury now a days. In real sports (I assume baseball is like this), teams can lose an entire season to injuries. We never have that.

I voted no and here is why. For one, injuries suck why the eff do we want more.

More importantly, like 4 seasons ago we talked about lowering it because we said it was too much. Then someone (I think Ted) posted a chart that showed we were basically right on league average.

Show me the real life number comparisons , then I'll vote.

Or change my no vote I just placed, that is.

We are way way way behind in terms of numbers of injuries per mlb team.

Where we are ahead is length of normal injuries but thats tougher to determine with MLB numbers as we have a lot more lengthier injuries but only an eye test.

We also have NOWHERE near the depth that ML teams have. This is a HUGE resounding no for me and something I would be completely discouraged about if it went through

I would consider a yes vote if we could change the frequency of the minor injuries. The rolled ankles or blister on throwing finger types. I already think we have too many of the Tommy John and torn rotator cuff types.

It seems like many of the injuries in this sim are always major

We leave a playoff level team(or close to it some seasons) worth of depth in the free agent pool all season long.

i actually disagree with this. I've always thought we have way too much depth in the league.

90% of every teams bench players are full of guys that don't belong on ML teams. If you mean too many blue rated arms and such, yes, i agree. The game is way too loose with superior ratings

Because most of the league doesn't have the finances to sign those guys if you ask me

this topic caught me off guard. Explain why you'd want to raise their frequency

I would venture to say that the vote would be the other way around if we voted on lowering the frequency

teams can go entire seasons without a major injury... it is pretty common. That doesn't appear to be normal. I hear things that mlb teams start AAA middle relievers in a pinch due to their staffs being injured. That never happens with us.

But not what people want, it is fine, seems most would rather have even less or no injuries.

I think the injuries are down because there are only a handful of teams that have a trainer rated lower than excellent:
(Everyone else's is Excellent or higher)

Albany - Good
Indianapolis - Good
Las Vegas - Good
Montreal - Good
Sheltown - Good
Steel City - Decent
