IU plays in 21 days! 21 days until my Saturdays (and in this case, Thursday) are defined by 3ish tortuous hours of self loathing and alcohol infused introspection as I stare into the abyss of Indiana's poor attempt to participate in Football (Southern).

Anyway, this is a fun way to start it off:

I am so damn excited for football again.

Let the Richt era begin and watch the delusional Miami fans expect a championship in year 1 ask for him to be fired after they go 8-4!

I'm going to go ahead and get my usual way, way, way too optimistic preseason prediction for IU football out of the way.

@ FIU - Dubya
Ball State - dubya
bye week - dubya
Wake Forest - dubya
Michigan State - ell
@ Ohio State - ELL
Nebraska - dubya
@ Northwestern - ell
Maryland - dubya
@ Rutgers - dubya
Penn State - dubya
@ MIchigan - ELL
Purdue - dubya

8-4 for the Hoosiers

FAMU-W
FAU-W
@App State-W
@GTech-L
FSU-L
UNC-W
@VTech-W
@ND-L
Pitt-W
@UVA-W
@NC State-W
Duke-W

9-3 with the 8-4 looming of our usual loss to a shitty UVA team on the road or an NC State.

is GT going to be good again? Nothing is more fun to watch than GT frustrating the fuck out of your friend's favorite team.

GT is never good which goes to the frustrating part of your sentence.

Weird coming from a Miami fan, fairly certain in the last 8 years Gtech has a better program than Miami.

USC will go 8-4 this year, having a young QB in game one against Bama is gonna be super suspect.......

Still think Kaaya is going to be "shit" and is "over rated" or has your hate for Miami blurred your vision on that too?

Fwiw Miami and GT have essentially had the same record from 2006-2014

Thu., Sep. 1 vs. Maine -- W (we probably struggle more than we should)
Sat., Sep. 10 at Navy -- W (get em before they get comfortable with a new QB)
Sat., Sep. 17 vs. Virginia -- W (home game before we suck and the fans are into it)
Sat., Sep. 24 vs. Syracuse -- L (3-0 and playing one of our biggest rivals, let down city)
Thu., Sep. 29 at Houston -- L (beat them last year, they want payback and probably hang 60 on us)
Sat., Oct. 8 vs. Cincinnati -- L (team starts to self destruct)
Sat., Oct. 15 at USF -- L (some major switches happen)
Sat., Oct. 22 vs. UCF (Homecoming) -- W (get off the schnide on homecomeing)
Sat., Oct. 29 at East Carolina -- W (we back?)
Fri., Nov. 4 vs. Temple -- W (always a gross game, but we're hot!)
Sat., Nov. 19 at Boston College -- L (our super bowl, another big game let down)
Sat., Nov. 26 vs. Tulane -- W (pointless game in the cold, Tulane lays an egg)

7-5

DATE … OPPONENT … PREDICTION
Sun, Sept 4 … @ Texas … WIN
Sat, Sept 10 … vs. Nevada … WIN
Sat, Sept 17 … vs. Michigan St. … LOSS
Sat, Sept 24 … vs. Duke … WIN
Sat, Oct 1 … vs Syracuse … WIN
Sat, Oct 8 … @ NC State … WIN
Sat, Oct 15 … vs. Stanford … LOSS
Sat, Oct 29 … vs. Miami … WIN
Sat, Nov 5 … vs Navy … WIN
Sat, Nov 12 … vs Army … WIN
Sat, Nov 19 … vs Virginia Tech … WIN
Sat, Nov 26 … @ USC … LOSS

That's 9-3. I don't think they are going 9-3 though. I think they end up 10-2.

Brian Kelly coached his tail off last year. The team was destroyed by injuries throughout the season and he still managed a 10-2 record with 2 point losses at Clemson and at Stanford. The schedule this year looks easier on paper and it helps that Michigan State and Stanford are both at home. Add on that fact that both teams will be grooming new QBs this season.

A quick rundown of the roster shows a lot of question marks though.
QB - Zaire or Kiser? The team went down this road last year and it resulted in Golson transferring.
RB - Folston is back from injury, but Prosise gravytrained his time into a spot on the Seahawks roster.
WR - Top 3 WRs are gone. Torii Hunter Jr. and Corey Robinson (if he plays) hopefully maximize their fathers' genetics. :-) If not, ND decided to recruit basketball players to come in and play WR (4-5 young guys 6'3"+, most notably St. Brown)
TE - Still looking for the next Rudolph, Eifert or even Koyack.
OL - Lost Nick Martin and Ronny Stanley... but I'm less concerned here because the team has been recruiting OL like crazy the last few seasons.

DL - Lost 2 studs, including Sheldon Day, but like the OL, I think they'll be ok due to recent recruiting.
LB - Jaylon Smith is gone, as well as 1 of the OLBs. The group was thin last year and this year doesn't look any better.
DB - They are going to be very young and very fast... but definitely a liability early.

The offense is going to be a lot of fun to watch, but the defense is what will make or break the season for ND. There is going to be a ton of youth at LB/DB. Hopefully they come together quickly. I wouldn't be shocked if they lose/struggle at Texas in Week 1.

LSU:

Wisconsin - W
JVSU Potatoes - W
Miss St - W
@ Auburn - W
Missouri - W
@ Florida - L
Southern Miss - W
Ole Miss - W
Bama - L
@ Arkansas - W
South Alabama - W
@ A&M - W

I legit can't name 1 single player on all 12 of our opponents, not even Bama, so let's take that 10-2 prediction with a grain of salt.
