Blue Header= Not Enough Votes, Off Ballot

My thoughts..

Lopez finally gets in on his 9th ballot. Long overdue in my eyes. I posted his stats compared to Valles before, who got in on his third try, but here they are again.
Spoiler!
Image
Lopez is on left.
On a side note, since Lopez has been on the ballot, 2 other players have joined him, Cruz, and Rodriguez in the "2000+hits/300+hr/>.300avg/>.500slg" club
Spoiler!
Lawrence LeBlanc and Matthew Lewis
Steve Bryan gets the 1 vote he needed from last season and gets in on his 3rd ballot.

This season, it was Kevin Thomas who falls 1 vote shy! A nice jump for Cyborg.

Jim Cole continues his steady climb, he has gone up every year, but still failing to get elected.

So much for my two sure-fire first-ballot locks this season. Pacheco and Huggins with disappointing debuts. I thought Huggins would flirt with being a unanimous selection, instead he struggled to get named on more than half the ballots. I thought Pacheco would glide in with 80-85% vote.

Thomas got support, but Wu still hovering at or around 50%.

Gibbons, Phelps, Bourassa and Burgos enter their final year on the ballot next season. Bryan getting in may open the door for Gibbons as another 3B. Bourassa will have to overtake Thomas and Pacheco plus any other new SP. And talk about a roller coaster, Phelps started out at 41%, dipped to as low as 8% and now has climbed back up to 33%.

McMinn, Crow, and Brady still trail the rest of the pack, but all are good enough to make a run at induction.

Peterson continues his free fall, while Franks continues to hang around.

Gonzalez only other first-timer to stay around, rest are one and done and Paco Lopez says good-bye.

Thanks for voting.

Our Hall of Fame now looks like...

Agreed. Thought they were first ballot easily.

Thanks again Bernie as I love your little summaries and putting this together.

yeah, Huggins snubbed...He'll get in, eventually. Surprised Cole hasn't gotten in either.

Great job, Bernie

I also thought Huggins and Pacheco would be easy first ballot. I don't get some people's criteria for HOF.

Glad Mustang stays on the ballot, he deserved more than three votes but he'll get another shot now.

Think I might have been guilty of skipping the first timers as the two HOF votes were so close together...Id anticipate a big jump in their numbers next go round

Only thing I can think of is maybe they are facing less competition or that a couple years later there are more comparables similar to their stats

I vote differently each time just based on how I'm feeling.

I check the phases of the moon, do some tai chi to get tune with the tides, and then vote based which names are easier for me to type on my phone.
