i need to hear more about the story.
were they not taking ANY classes at all and just getting passing grades? or were advisers just putting them in 'easy classes'. cause that happens at every school in the country

It's North Carolina. They'll be fine. Somebody insignificant will fall on the sword and punishment, if any, will be minor. If it was North Carolina State, then there would be an issue.

If this were UK, people would be calling for the death penalty. But it's UNC, one of NCAA's poster children; even though ten of the fifteen players on his national title team were AA studies majors, there won't be any punishment.
Love the hypocrisy. People get up in arms about someoen getting money, but academic fraud? Meh, no biggie.

Just pointing out the lovely double standard the NCAA has.
Duke uses ineligible player who got tons of money (Maggettee), NCAA takes 7 years to "investigate", does nothing and says that too much time passed
USC waits what 5, 6 years? Gets hammered for the Reggie Bush thing. No statute of limitations there
UNC is giving out fake degrees (which is about as bad as you can get, you've tainted degrees of people paying 50k+ to EARN their degrees), but they're one of the "good ol boys" of the NCAA along with Duke, so no punishment given.
But it's ok, at least UNC players didn't have an extra plate of pasta without paying for it!

You don't think they'll be punished?

When I went to UK, the basketball players were in actual classes and were required to spend a minimum of 20 hours at the tutoring department
If my university is giving out fake classes, then you better believe I want something done and those involved to be fired on the spot. I don't care who is involved. But way to miss my point and twist it around.

CBS Sports says LSU had possibly the best frontcourt in the nation last season, and ranked em as 5th best this season, is that legit?
I can't even name 1 player on the team, not even the guy who declared early last season lol.

Chris Jackson looks really solid but Stanley Roberts leaving early may hurt them.

Ahhhh, the good ole days!
I wonder if any other colleges in any sports have that oddity where we haven't had much success overall, but our all time greats really stack up with other schools. 3 HOFers + Chris Jackson + Mahmoud Abdul Rauf!!!

It looks like LSU is considered a bubble team this year. They do have a great frontcourt but lost their PG. Sounds like he was asked to transfer. So, the backcourt is the big question mark.

Jay Bilas said that if he could do it, he would rank our starting 5 as the #1 team in the nation, and our next 5 (Cal is set on doing this NBA-style platoon thing) would be the #20 team in the nation.
I dunno how he's gonna keep all these guys happy w playing time
