Well not so much....
Basically, my wife and I adopted a baby boy.
I was actually out of town in DC when she got the call that there was a potential match. I called her in between meetings and found out she was headed to the hospital to meet the little guy. He was born on 2/12/14 and she had him home on 2/13. After trekking from DC to Pittsburgh to catch a flight on 2/14 I finally got home late afternoon to meet the little guy.
He is now 6 weeks old and has been a little blessing to our family. This was the video we showed during the Sip N See a couple of weeks ago. We had over 160 people show up and support this little guy and its still a bit overwhelming but we are figuring it out as we go.
I've been wanting to update some of you guys and have had people send texts and FB posts but I haven't been able to fully disclose too much information. We are still waiting for the birth dad to sign off his parental rights but this guy was a slug that hung up on the mother when she tried to tell him she was pregnant. Once he is served, we don't anticipate any issues.
His mom is an amazing person. She's 28 and has a 10 year old. Put herself through college and is finishing up her masters. She knew she wouldn't be able to give him everything she gave the other son so she wanted to give him an opportunity to bless another family. We keep in contact with her and she has sent pictures of her and her son to make available whenever and if we see fit in showing him. She already signed her parental rights so we have no fear of her coming back in the picture.
This road to parenthood has been a trip for us that started from several failed IVF and culminated with the adoption. So if any of you guys have any questions on the process please let me know.
Meanwhile....this has been a fantastic last month and I am looking forward to dedicating my life to make this little man successful and to feel the love he deserves. So if I have been absent or hard to reach for the last 6 weeks, there is good reason for it.
Future Longhorn Wide receiver in the making. Book it!
