To what degree do they "stage" these types of things to add ratings? I mean I know they hate each other, but at the same time they're not stupid either

ESPN did have a video conf with them less than 20 minutes after the "altercation". If you didn't see that, you should.

Exactly what I was thinking as well. WWE style.Seeitsaveit13 wrote:To what degree do they "stage" these types of things to add ratings? I mean I know they hate each other, but at the same time they're not stupid either
UFC has been losing ratings and their events have been "watered down" with the vast number of them.
Pull something like this and I am sure it will help.

This took place in a public hotel lobby. Things were knocked over and could've easily hurt random bystanders.
I seriously doubt this was staged for that reason, so many things could've gone wrong. Especially since they fell off the stage and if Jones gets hurt, there goes the main fight.

Re: MMA / UFC - Official Thread
I respect what DC can do, but Jon Jones is on another level from anything he's seen. They were making the rounds on ESPN and Fox last night (which also makes me think this may have been a little staged and ended up going too far). Jones was quick to point out that DC's big wins have come over a near 50yr old Dan Henderson, an over the hill Josh Barnett and Patrick Cummins, a guy who had never fought int he UFC and was working at a coffee shop or something.
I've been a huge Jones fan from the first fight I saw 5-6yrs ago. But I also got to meet and talk to DC in person, after he KO'd Big Foot in Cincinnati a few years back. He's an incredibly down to Earth guy. So this is a definite must purchase event for me.
With all of that said... I think Cormier will have his moments and get Jones to the mat, but Jones is going to end the fight before it goes to decision. Jones' trash talk was on point last night. He mocked Cormier for saying that he could take him down 100x out of 100. Then told him that he wouldn't take him down 5x in 5 rounds. I've never seen Jones this hyped for a fight. It's kind of cool to see this overflowing confidence from him.

That's real talk. "You spit in my face, I'm gonna kill you." No staging going on right there. I hope Cormier spits in his face at the instructions now.shel311 wrote:http://mmajunkie.com/2014/08/video-hot- ... ath-threat

Jon Jones is such a G. he sounds so calm and he would kill Cormier and will kill Cormier in the ring.

War Machine beats Christy Mack nearly to death. Bellator released him and he is now on the run. He is still posting to twitter while there is a $10k reward for his capture.
Death alert, he will probably commit suicide before this all over.

I posted about this in the random thread. Dog the Bounty hunter has given him 24 hours to turn himself in before he comes after him.

Woulda been even cooler if the dude on the ground got a little more leverage and landed a solid kick to the head.
Pretty funny though.

Just watched the early Prelims. 20 year old Paige Vanzant won me over. She is aggressive, works for submissions off her back and has good reversals from her back as well. I tried finding the fight on YouTube but It's not available yet.
Here is the highlights from her fight.

She has the potential to be the face of women's mma for a long time. They wanted her on TUF this season, but she wasn't allowed on because she was too young. That says a lot right there, because that show was already loaded with the best talent in wmma.

From top to bottom this was a great card overall. The Answer is a beast, just engine never quits. I understand Barboza's game plan of sticking and moving. Just wish he would stand and trade a little for the fan of exciting fights in me. Once again, I think the ladies stole the show.
